Shane shook her head, staring at the pretty girl a bit, “Nahh…No thank you.  I’m fine.”

“Well, just let me know, if you do.”  She added with a smile, “I’m Carmen, by the way.”

“Hey Carmen, I’m Shane.”  She grinned lopsidedly.

This whole time, they’re gazes had been locked on each other, which didn’t escape Arianna’s notice.  She smiled, bemusedly, to herself, feeling the palpable attraction between the two young women.

As Arianna, with Shane by her side, made her way toward the staging area, Carmen passed by, pushing a cart loaded with tapes and boxed videos.  Shane stumbled to a halt, and Carmen gave her a shy smile.

“Hey,” Shane said.

“Uh…Hey,” Carmen smiled.  She continued pushing her cart down the hallway as Shane stared after her.

Arianna looked in the direction of Shane’s gaze and gave her a nudge.  “You should go,” she stated with a smile.

“But…I should be here…for you,” Shane protested half-heartedly.

“Go ahead.  I’ll be fine.”  She smiled.

Shane tore her gaze away from Carmen.  “Yeah?”

At her nod of confirmation, Shane gave her a grateful grin, hurrying off in the direction that Carmen had disappeared.

When she caught up with her, Carmen was trying to catch a pile of precariously stacked tapes before they fell.  Giving her a hand, Shane grabbed an armload of tapes and walked with her down the corridor.

They chatted as they made their way to a room where Carmen stopped.  Gesturing at the door, she said, “This is it.”

“Oh, okay,” Shane replied, handing her back the stack of tapes.  “I’m gonna go.  They’re probably looking for me.”  She started off down the hall when Carmen seemed to reach a decision, calling her back.

“Hey Shane? You wanna hear something cool?”

“Yeah sure,” she smiled and shrugged.

Inside the mixing room, Shane perched on top of the console while Carmen worked at the sound board, headphones held up to her ears.

“Listen to this.  I heard this at the knitting factory last week.  This is exactly where I wanna be…maybe five years from now,” she added enthusiastically.

“I like a girl with ambition,” Shane joked with a grin.
