Bette was almost as busy as Tina was, but she did a bit more free time that Tina currently. Alice calls her and invites her out to lunch on occasion just to keep the friendship thing going and to just be the nosey report that she was. The first time they did lunch after Bette and Tina first talk was like an interrogation session.
“So Porter, tell me, how was she, did you get the draws?”
“No Alice I did not get the draws. I wasn’t looking to get the draws.”
“Oh, come on Porter your talking to me. I know first hand how much you love the draws.”
“Yes I love sex but that’s not what all this is about.”
“So what is it about Porter?”
“Well for me, right now, it’s about us getting to know one another apart from the physical first. Because I have seen too many people ignore things just because they were having great sex.”
“Kind of like us, huh?”
“Yes like us. You live and learn. How are you doing Alice? Meet anybody new?”
“Bette I meet people all the time. What is it you really want to ask me? Just say it.”
Bette just looks at Alice blankly, Alice says “Oh, I see you want to know if you can ease your guilt for dumping me for your new McHottie.”
“Yes, I do but more than that Alice I want you to be happy.”
“Bette I’ll be fine in time. In the mean time you’ll just have to deal with me stroking a few guilt feelings out of you. Otherwise what would be the fun of being around you.”
“Okay I can live with that as long as you don’t go stockerish on me. I would hate to have to pull a restraining order out on you.”
“Oh come on Porter you actually think that I have stocking tendencies?”
“Well I’m just saying..”
Alice cuts her off, “Bette don’t flatter yourself. You were good. But ‘it’ is not worth going to jail for.” Alice laughs and Bette smiles.
“Well that’s good to know. So I don’t have to worry about any unannounced visits at inopportune moments then.”
