| Chapter 29
Tina awakens and realizes that Bette is still there with her. They are still laying in the same position they first laid in with her back to Bette which is odd for Tina, because she tends to toss and turn as she sleeps. She takes this as a good sign that they fit together well. She takes hold of Bette’s hand and looks at her long beautiful well manicured fingers and gently plays with them not wanting to wake her. But little did Tina know that Bette was already awake enjoying the warmth of Tina’s body against her own in silence.
Thoughts ran through Tina’s mind as to what those fingers could do. She wanted those fingers and the woman that was attached to them. Never in her life had someone treated her with such care, kindness and respect. Yet this woman was sexy as hell and made her insides do flips. And this beautiful woman she knew wanted her as much or more than she wanted her. What was stopping her from giving in to her feelings, for that matter her needs? Even though she had worked in the sex industry as a stripper Tina was no loose woman. Her thought was that true sexually intimacy belonged in a monogamous relationship. She didn’t want to just have ‘sex’, she wanted to make love. Even though ‘sex’ met a need it wasn’t all that she wanted for herself. She may have had an idealistic view of sex but that’s what she held out for.
She remembers her talks with her mother about sex as she was growing up. Her mother asked her to wait until marriage if she could but if she couldn’t to please only do it out of love and not because the guy was pressuring her into it. She told her that it isn’t love that is motivating the person if they were pressuring her into having sex with them. She also told her never to have sex with a guy if she couldn’t see herself raising a child with him. Because if she got pregnant she might very well be doing that. So she never took sex with a guy casually. Nor did she take the idea of being with a woman casually.
Tina knew that she was attracted to women as long as she could remember but she never gave into it out of fear. Fear of her families rejection mostly. The fear put there mostly by her grandmother. But she was at the point in her life that if she didn’t explore what she felt for Bette she would be in agony. She had the chance to see a few healthy lesbian relationships while working in the club but what she saw more of were dysfunctional ones which scared the crap out of her. She knew that she loved things about a woman that men didn’t possess but there were things about women that she didn’t know if she could handle in a relationship. She thought that men would much simpler to get along with. That and she knew the ‘rules’ in guy/girl relationships, the cultural norms. She was comfortable so far in dating Bette but they hadn’t done much together due to her working so much the past few weeks. All she knew is that she wanted to know Bette and she wanted Bette near she couldn’t stop thinking about her. She wanted her even closer she wanted her physically.
