I’ll Find My Way Back To You Chapter 7

“Hmm, ahh, don’t mention her. I’m, hmm, where am I? I’m in this club just off LAX. It’s called Mist. Hahaha, are you coming? Then I can call you Tina, and you won’t walk off right?”

And I don’t know how I can do without.
    I just need you now.

Tina decided there and then that she was going to go and find Bette. Bette was drunk and in LA! What was she doing in LA and why did Bette not want Jodie’s name to be mentioned?

She needed to find out and she really needed to see Bette.

“Bette? Stay there alright? I’m coming for you. Stay there and wait for me babe.”

Another shot of whiskey, can’t stop looking at the door.
Wishing you’d come sweeping in the way you did before.

The call disconnected and Bette stared at the phone in her hand.

The conversation was slowly making its way into her drink-addled brain.

“Tina? Tina’s coming? Why did she want to know where Jodie was? Argh, no, no that hurts.”

Bette grabbed her whisky glass and took a gulp, needing to numb the pain that Jodie’s name invoked.

And I wonder if I ever cross your mind?
For me it happens all the time.

“Tina..” she breathed out. The woman that had always been on her mind, in one way or another was coming.

It’s a quarter after one, I’m all alone and I need you now.
Said I wouldn’t call but I lost all control and I need you now.

Tina was in her car, racing towards LAX, needing to get to Bette as quickly as she could. So many questions raced through her mind and only Bette had the answers.

And I don’t know how I can do without.
    I just need you now.

“Tina.. Oh Tina, come quick, my head hurts and everything’s spinning.” Bette thought, remembering the times Tina had looked after her, giving her Advil and placing a wet towel on her forehead, soothing her hangovers.

    Oh whoa
Yes I’d rather hurt than feel nothing at all.

Tina was almost at LAX, she was thinking of all the times she had with Bette. Would all the bad memories come to mind again? Oh god, it didn’t matter, she just had to hold on to the good times. And Bette needed her. That’s what mattered.

“Tina, Tina. So many times you hurt me, but yet I would give anything to see you now. Oh please come.”

It’s a quarter after one, I’m all alone and I need you now.
    And I said I wouldn’t call but I’m a little drunk

Bette looked at the door, wondering why Tina still wasn’t there yet. She looked at her phone and dialed Tina’s number, wanting to ask her to hurry.

    And I need you now.
Well I don’t know how I can do without.

Tina pulled up to the front of the club, just as her phone started buzzing, signaling an incoming call. She pulled it out of her pocket, looking at the caller ID. It was Bette, she dropped it back into her pocket.

    I just need you now

“Tina, pick up..” Bette pleaded with the phone.

    I just need you now.

“Bette, oh Bette, I’m coming. Don’t worry baby, I’m coming for you.”

Oh baby I need you now.

“She’s not coming is she? I should have known better, urgh, how stupid can you be Bette Porter?” Bette silently scolded herself before picking up her glass to take another gulp of whisky.

Before the glass could reach her lips, it was taken away. Bette looked up in surprise at the person who had the audacity to stop her from drinking, from numbing her pain.

    “Tina?!”

“Bette, stop drinking. Come on, let’s get you out of here, you need sleep and a warm bath.” Tina was in full protective mode.

Bette stared at Tina, simply stunned by her sudden appearance, she made a move to get nearer to Tina but as she stood up, the alcohol in her system caused her to lose her balance and she fell forward.

Tina caught Bette and she righted her, supporting her.

“Come on Bette, let’s get you into a bed. We can continue everything in the morning.” She said soothingly.
