If You Never Say Anything to Me ch. 26
“I’m scared Kit. I’m scared of messing everything up.”
“It’s ok to be scared Honey. Tell her your fears and let her help you with them. That is a true partnership when both of you can shoulder the burdens. Trust her Bette.”
We talked a few more minutes with Kit giving me suggestions of someplace to go for dinner that I probably wouldn’t see someone from my past. That was a pain that my past was playing such a part in my present.
I got off the phone and looked around the yard. The flowers that were blooming were such colorful varieties. I really didn’t know much about flowers. I had the florist on speed dial and my credit card on file. When I wanted a woman to have flowers, I dialed the phone and some were delivered. Tina deserved more than that. I went into the house and got some shears. I cut a couple dozen flowers off and carried them into the house. I rinsed the ends off and snipped them before putting some into a vase and rolling a cone like holder for the rest out of newspaper. I would give Tina flowers that I picked with my own hands.
I showered and dressed in jeans and a tank top. I grabbed a light sweater in case it got cold. With the flowers, a blanket and my keys in hand, I headed out. My first stop was The Planet. I was happy not to recognize any cars in the lot. Today was not the day for an Alice conversation. I went inside and went to the kitchen. As Kit had promised, a picnic basket awaited me. Mario came to me and told me what he had included and asked if I wanted anything added. It was wonderful and I thanked him for pulling it off in such short notice. I loaded it into the trunk and then headed to the drug store. I looked around the card aisle and found one that offered the feelings that I had. I purchased it along with some mints before finally getting into my car. The note I wrote was probably for the first time one that was written from my heart. I hoped it said everything that was going on in my mind. I then went to Tina’s.
When she opened the door, she took my breath away. She was just beautiful to me. Her smile took away the trepidation I felt as I handed her the flowers. When she thanked me and told me how beautiful they were, I told her that I had gotten them out of the garden at the house. She invited me in and I followed her into the kitchen as she placed the flowers into a vase. I couldn’t resist. I went up behind her and started kissing her neck. I felt her ease into my arms. We stood like that for a long time just savoring being with one another. Finally, I kissed her again and pulled away.
“I brought a picnic. I was hoping we could go to the beach and talk.” Her smile as she turned, leaned toward me and gave me a kiss really was what I needed to have the confidence to have this conversation with her. Hell, it was no longer me thinking that I was falling in love with her. I was in love with her and tonight, I would express that to her and hope that she too expressed it to me.

In-love Bette is just… cute is maybe the wrong word to use, but it’s the only one I can think of right now. The chats with Bob and Kit, and the flowers and card… She’s adorable. I hope Tina’s also ready to share the “L” word with Bette. Thanks for the post, NAG. Cheers!
i think the picnic on the beach will do them both good… talking about their feelings… will get them going! :)PPS
Bette is so open and loving. What a wonderful way to be.PPS.
Great Chapter!!! I love how Bette talked to Bob and Kit about Tina. Now bring on the picnic. Thanks Nag PPS

Oh, the story just keeps getting better and better. Thanks for another wonderful chapter. Can’t wait for the talk on the beach…maybe more will follow once Bette shares her true feelings.
Bette is lucky to have people that will listen to her and help her through the difficult decisions. Bob and Kit are a huge benefit to Bette in almost all aspects of her life.

Wow! What a charming update you had here for us. Thanks! It is so beautiful to hear Bette’s realization of falling for Tina and how scared she can be of telling her. The flowers and the basket were very thoughtful. We are eager to learn about their talk on such a romantic setting at the beach. Hmmm *smiling wide* PPS Lucero & Marsha (JC’s Salsa Aunties.)
