If You Never Say Anything to Me ch. 1

The case file read that Bette had responded to a home that had been burglarized previously to gather more information from the homeowner. There was a good chance they had a plausible suspect in mind but needed some serial numbers that the owner of the house previously had not been able to find related to the stolen items. The call was a normal one that should have only taken minutes. Her partner was out celebrating the birth of his new baby boy and she was riding alone. As much as she and James got along, she was happy for those times that she was alone in the car able to listen to the radio and think without having to contribute to a conversation. When Bette arrived, she was not aware that the home owner was robbed because of the meth lab that he ran out of the house. It was a cooking day and paranoia was at its height. When Bette knocked announcing that she was a police officer, one of the people in the house opened the door and subsequently shot her. She was able to crawl back to her car, radio for help and lay there until the cavalry arrived. The situation became even more tense as shots were fired both ways preventing the paramedics from reaching her for an extended period of time. She lay there bleeding from the bullet wound to her stomach until a SWAT team member was able to crawl in, grab her and pull her to safety. All in all, 4 people died that day including one police officer. Bette had surgery immediately and the bullet was removed. Miraculously, it hadn’t hit any major organs. The only long term effects of the shooting were psychological and until she made progress on that front, she was still out on leave.

At the 50 minute mark this Wednesday, Bette got up, retrieved her bag and headed toward the door. It was as if she sat there counting the minutes and knew exactly when her time was up. Tina watched her walk away as she had each Wednesday but this week she was not letting her just leave. This week, she felt the need to confront her before she walked out.

“You aren’t responsible for that officer’s death,” was all she said.

“Maybe not but he’s still dead and I’m alive. He died trying to help me,” Bette replied as she walked out. It was the first time Tina had heard her voice and didn’t quite understand why it calmed her while at the same time frightened her. She understood that she wanted not only to help Bette but to know her as well.

    1. Hahaaaa…imagine how excited I was to finish reading Windows and to find a new NAG story on the home page! Bravo…well written…unique. I can’t wait for another update on this story.

    2. What a surprise, a new story and I like it very much. Wonder where you will take us on this new beginning adventure of Tina and Bette. Post when you can. BTW, I don’t care that Window will continue on, IT SHOULD.

    3. First of all I love your Windows story and would love to see it continue on and on and on. This story seems extremely interesting. I would love to see how this relationship devolpes from this weekly meeting.

    4. Yea!!!!Glad to hear that WOO may never end!!! You know how much I love it. BTW, I really like your approach on this one, it’s new and refreshing. You are a fantastic writer. Keep it up!

    5. HOOKED!! take your time with each story no rushing from me… i’ll still read which ever when ever you post. don’t forget to enjoy your summer though. :)PPS

    6. This is starting out to be a very interesting story about “our girls.” Especially the different careers and different personalities of the characters. You are developing this story so very well and I can hardly wait for the next chapter just to see where you take them and us. Tina and Shane are correct, she needs to end things with Eric and move on and explore the possibilities with women, especially one tall, elegant, cafe’ au lait skinned beauty. Who knows maybe the beauty has a thing for Tina as well. We don’t know because she isn’t telling us her thoughts at the moment. Post when you can.

    7. A new story! Ilicked on this before I realised it was you – needless to say you have a ready-made fan base. Looking forward to seeing where this is going.

    8. oh well…or is it oh hell? I’m hooked anywayz. Hugs to baby G from Aunty Rau; wish I could come babysit while u sleep a bit. Interesting that u get $$$ to develop a curriculum; here in NZ its an expectation laid on H.O.Ds. When I arrived at my present school the curriculum for my department was krap and as a HOD I had turn rewrite a Social Sciences Curriculum for the entire school…sheez!!! No extra money.

    9. OH NAG, I can so get into it, thank you, thank you , thank you, I know you didn’t want to get into both of them at once but love that WoO has taken a life of it’s own. Now, let the good times roll. I’ll be peaking in to see if you posted more often. Have a great weekend w/little G. Md

    10. great start, its a totally different approach to a B&T story and i like it LOL. also totally differnt from WOO (which i hope never ends BTW) but it is equally as interesting already.can’t wait for your next post Thanks
