Chapter 11: The aftermath: Actions Speak Louder than Words…
The next morning I entered my job with a smile so wide that everyone had to have seen…I was up and running and I haven’t fel this way in a long time…I made my way to my office and closed the door…I was in the mood for music so I turned on the radio and took a seat behind my desk…I begin writing the proposal transferring my already written notes onto the screen…when there was a knock at the door…I paused for a moment and turned down the radio…I said…
“come in”
the door opens and Oscar appeared through it with flowers and an envelope in his hand…he says…
“Tina…these were delivered this morning”
I take the flowers and say…
“thanks”
Oscar closes the door…I tend back to the roses sent to me and I automatically thought of Bette…I was caught between which envelop that I wanted to open first…I chose the one that was placed in the flowers…I rerieved the card making sure to put the flowers down careful before ripping open the paper…I took out the card and it read…
“I just wanted to thank you for last night…you being there for me after what we’ve been through was a blessing…what would I do without you?…the flowers express my love for you and the card expresses my thoughts of you…I love you…and never forget that…”

p.s…I hope you like your surprise…
I smile wide and wonder what surprise did she get me…I look over at the envelope that Oscar bought in and I shook it and nothing moved inside…I carefully opened the seal and took out this check…Oh my god…I raise out my seat and scream out loud
“what the *****?”
it was a check in the amount of ten-thousand dollars written in my name…I didn’t know what to do…or think…am I tripping over my own thoughts here…I sit back down and conduct myself like a professional…I picked up the phone immediately and called Bette….she picked up on the first ring saying…
“hello”
I say out of excitement…
“oh my god…what’s the check for?”
Bette says…
“it’s for you and the baby…I mean you need a place to stay Tina…and according to the way that you feel I don’t expect you to move back in…you stated clearly that you wanted to take it a day at a time…so what are you going to do…keep sleeping on Alice’s couch…you have more than enough to put down on a spot and even put furniture and food inside it…”
I am shocked…how did she know what I was feeling…she’s reading my mind…I like it…I say
“did Alice say something to you?”
Bette says quickly…
“nope…this is something I decided on my own…technically Tina your still my wife and your pregnant with our child…just because your not at home doesn’t mean that I have to stop providing for you…The headquarters for Social Justice doesn’t pay you Tina for work every week…you have to survive and I know how it can be relying on a friend especially Alice…she would care for you as long as she could…but that’s my job…I married you not her…”
those words touch my heart…I couldn’t stop smiling…god I was suddenly missing her and wanted to see her immediately…then she said…
“hey…you know I’m leaving tomorrow right?”
I snap out a la la land and toon back in…I said…
“leaving?…where to?”
Bette says…
“remember I told you I was going to New York…I didn’t think that it would so soon but…I have to go”
I feel sad suddently at the sound of her words…I ask
“how long will you be gone for?”
Bette says…
“a couple of days…I’ll be back in no time”
I cheer up a bit…and glance over at the clock…I say
“what are you doing tonight?”
Bette says…
“oh tonight I have a meeting to attend to…and then I’m going to a dinner party…”
I say
“damn…you have a busy schedule…”
Bette says…
“hey…if you want I could drop by and see you later at Alice’s?”
I smile of course I want you too…tell her that…I say
“sure..I’d love that”
I grin ear to ear…Bette says…
“I’ll call you when I’m on my way over”
I say
“okay…bye”
I end the call with excitement…oh my this has been a good day so far…I turned the music back up and Lil Kim “lighter’s up” was playing on the radio I bop my head to the music not understanding what she was saying but I listened anywhere and said..
“put your lighters up”
I laugh and chuckle to myself…god life was such a blessing…

i hope that if bette gets denied the grant she’ll be understanding and won’t get angry at tina…nice that they are talking and tina is happier, maybe she should move back home?

Great chapter…but I’m getting a really bad feeling about the grant. Why do I feel like Helena is still going to get between them?
Great work! It dispelled my doubt. I was always wondering if Bette’s still supporting Tina financially in season 2.
