    If I Fall: Chapter 16

The rest of the afternoon went by at an excruciatingly slow pace. In fact, Dana was convinced that the hands on her watch were working in tandem with each other to move counterclockwise and defy everything she thought she knew about time. She’d been out on the courts for what seemed like forever, though in reality forever was definitely a while away. For hours the sun had been cruelly scorching down on her back, causing the sweat to profusely emanate from her pours, and yet somehow, only 3 hours had passed since Alice left.

Dana knew as soon as the words she uttered to Alice moved past her lips that she desperately wanted to take them back. As painful as it was to admit, she and the writer weren’t nearly solid enough yet for her to have been completely candid like that about her feelings for Jules. It wasn’t like the old days where Alice would look to Dana to be brutally honest with her about anything, be it a girlfriend, a pair of jeans, or the writer’s lack of conservative appeal. Things were drastically different now, and Dana felt that she had finally graduated from the "walking on eggshells" level, just to put her foot in her mouth once again.

But then again, what was the alternative? She was so tired. So incredibly fucking tired of lying and concealing how she really felt. Lying about her true feelings for Alice, lying about her lack of feelings for Lara, lying about the way she wanted to claw Jules’ eyes out every time she looked at her Alice. Dana was at her breaking point and the writer was unfortunate enough to get the brunt of that.

Except, Alice was the last person Dana knew she should be taking her frustrations out on. Telling her that her new girlfriend sucks and she was settling was no way to win her back, and Dana had been internally scolding herself for the past 3 hours every time she thought about what had transpired. Especially when all she could do was picture Alice walking away like she did, and how she was completely incapable of even attempting to stop her. It seemed that if Dana herself wasn’t the one walking away from their problems, then it was Dana letting Alice do the walking for her. She was pretty tired of that too.  Somehow they ended up helpless to communicate and losing each other once again. And she couldn’t figure out how they kept getting to this point, but their ineptitude at saying how they felt surely had something to do with it.

    1. Loved it! the break-up was very good..Lara is gone. Next one leaving? Jules (but is it bad that I like her?)I’m glad you liked my last comment, this story is really really great. PPS!!!

    2. I loved Dana’s initial lack of a response when Lara asked if she was still in love with Alice. Thank you for ridding us of the Lara problem. I guess it has been long enough since season 3, so I’m capable of feeling somewhat sorry for her. I was also surprised that Dana was so blunt about Jules in the previous update. Happy writing!

    3. it’s a first step that Dana and Lara broke-up, I mean who was she fooling? poor Lara though…now Dana has to come clean with Alice but I’m worried it’ll be too late :Sand lol can you make the tension thicker? damn! i can’t imagine it but i bet it’ll be a great chapter to read. keep the writing. have a nice week :)

    4. Nice! Interested to see what Dana does, hopefully she puts it all out there, but at the appropriate time! Bring on the angts and sexual tension! PPS

    5. Great breakup. (now THAT sounds strange)I understand why dananalice wished Dana had initiated it- but it’s not surprising that Lara had too… and we already saw that emotionally Dana was there. The fact that still Lara had to pull it from her was emblematic. What did Alice say last chapter? “Don’t know why i thought you might save us the time and energy and just TELL me what your feeling?” :)I’m looking forward to Alice’s reaction to learning that Dana and Lara have broken up. Poor Alice, she’s toast. : )

    6. lara had some great lines and words of wisdom in this installment. i am glad they broke up, but i kind of wish dana would have done it. but i think through the break up lara talked some sense in to her and dana realizes that she needs to grow up. as usual – great update. post soon and i look forward to some cute danish moments.

    7. Sweet, I think I’m first! Loved it as I always do. I’m glad Lara finally put herself first. Hopefully Dana takes her advice. As for Alice and Jules…if you insist on having them do the horizontal bop, could you possibly have Jules yell out “Motherfucker!” at random intervals? Just a thought (it’d make my week). Anyway, great chapter, and I smell a Danish reconciliation on the way. I hope. Because all the suspense is making me nuts.

    8. This is up the top of my list of fav danish fanfic, I do agree with other ppl that jules can’t be that perfect there has got to be something about her and I think Dana should try and find out more about her. Alice and Dana need to get together soon this is killing me I just want to bang there heads together!! Great fanfic PPS
