I Fell In Love With A Straight Girl chpt 2

I had 5 miles to convince myself that I didn’t want to be her friend, that I shouldn’t talk to her because it would just end badly. I would just push her away, belittle her, and I couldn’t do that do her. So I wouldn’t I would just not talk to her, just pass her when I saw her in the hallways. It would be hard, but it would be harder if I broke her heart.

There was a car honking beside me; with my head down I kept on walking, probably some other jock telling me a dyke.

"Hey Shane!"  It was her; I almost tripped as I stop to look at her.

She was driving an old blue pick up truck it was rusted and idled loudly on the side of the street. "Do you want a ride?" she shouted over the noise.

“No.” was what I wanted to say, but I found my self walking up to her car, I leaned against the open window. "Are you sure? It’s a few miles away from here."

"And you would rather walk them?" she teased, "Get in!"

The trucks door creaked as I got in, her car smelled like sandalwood and honey, I imaged that’s what she smelt like.

"Do you always walk home after school?" She asked as she pulled away from the curb. I laughed, "No I try to avoid walking 5 miles when ever I can, I missed the bus because of detection, my English teach is strict about showing up to class on time."

"Oh no" she gasp "Did I make you late, I’m so sorry if I did."

"No it’s fine, I’d would have rather help you then sit in her lame class anyways." I should stop right now, I can’t make friends, and I shouldn’t be flirting with her.

    “You’re so sweet.”

We were miles away when I relished that we missed the turn to my house, not wanting her to drive all the way back I had her drop me off at my friends house.

“Were you really going to walk all the way over here from school?” She asked, a little worried

“Well I probably would have jumped on the city bus. This isn’t my house it’s my friends, we try to hang out after school, when she’s not at work.”
