    Bette’s finally in motion. Will she crash? B/T

    Previously:

        “I know Al. I know. But I just… I just don’t know.”
       
        Alice and Shane shared a deep sigh of frustration.
    “That’s okay Bette,” Shane patted Bette’s back. “Alice and I brought a
    case of beer. We’ll just forget about it for tonight okay? Then
    tomorrow, you’ll know.”

        “I will?”

        “One way or another, it will come to you.”

        Jenny smiled. “You’re gonna be fine whatever you do,
    Tina. You’ve saved up a lot. Maybe  it’s time for you to
    ‘retire’.” They both laughed a bit. Tina suddenly felt light and knew
    that whatever happened with Bette, she was indeed going to be alright.

         “Thanks Jenny.”

        “Don’t mention it. Half this house is yours, and half my soul is too. We’re sisters, remember?”

        Tina rose up and hugged Jenny tightly, grateful, in all the bullshit going on in her life, for
    friendship.

        “Good morning James!” She greeted her assistant with a bright smile. “Anything new for me today?”
       
        “Hi Bette! How are you feeling?” James handed her a
    cup of coffee and a folder stuffed with papers and photographs.

        “Oh, I’m okay. Are these the Mondrian abstracts I’m supposed to review?”

        “Yes, and Ms. Peabody’s in your office.”

        Bette glanced at her closed door in alarm. “Helena? Are we supposed to have a meeting?”

        “No, but she’s in there.” James waved her over. “Good luck!”

        Bette walked into her office in trepidation. She hoped Helena wouldn’t bring up
    Tina again. Bette didn’t know how she would react, but she hoped she wouldn’t lose it like
    she did the previous day. She was still feeling embarrassed about that,
    but she decided that Helena would never see her falter again. Bette
    squared her shoulders.

        “Bette!” Helena exclaimed and looked up from the
    paper she was reading. “I have the most wonderful news.” She beamed and
    motioned for Bette to sit in her chair.

        “Helena, good morning!” Bette smiled serenely. “To
    what do I owe the pleasure of seeing you this early?” She glanced at
    the clock and saw that it was only 8 am.

        “Sit down my dear!” Helena waited until Bette was
    seated behind the desk. “I guess I shouldn’t waste your time so I’ll
    get right to it. Franklin asked for early retirement
    yesterday.”
