How could you forget us? Chapter 14
Chapter 14
This Christmas was particularly difficult for Bette, Helena was in NY and had made no attempt to contact Bette since their Christmas eve run in. Their relationship was now up in the air after Bette’s tryst with Tina. Tina was obviously taken by Pam but she knew they needed to talk about what happened between them. She did not want to just sweep the incident under the rug, but their relationship had become so volatile and unpredictable she knew she had to thread lightly. It was not what she wanted but it was important for them to be friends. She was happy that Tina seemed to be so captivated by someone, perhaps this would allow Tina to move on and allow them to have a healthy friendship.
She hoped to have heard from Helena when she was in NY but no calls, emails, Skype or text messages. She had to tell herself to stop checking every 10 minutes to see if Helena had tried to reach her. It was so odd because they had been speaking to each other daily until…Bette was still kicking herself over her lapse in judgment, her weakness, her…FUCK, what ever it was.
She did have a great time with Angelica on Christmas day watching her as she opened her gifts. Over indulged would have been an understatement. Dolls, videos, toys, games and more clothes than one child needed. When it was all said and done, Santa, by way of the aunties, had provided Angelica with enough loot to open up her own toy store. Tina kept a closet full of toys many unopened from birthdays past. Most of these toys were destined to be a part of the closet to be brought out as Angelica became bored with the others in circulation. Others were destined to be donated to charity or re-gifted to some unsuspecting classmate or playmate.
Pam was struck at how many toys and clothes one child had received. She reflected back to her own Christmas with her own daughter and Blessed. Christmas and Kayla’s birthdays were always difficult for her. This Christmas was particularly difficult. She felt like a ‘third wheel’ with Angelica. Tina and Bette. She missed her family much more this Christmas than most others. Perhaps it was being so close to this unit but not being a part of it. She became very withdrawn much to Tina’s frustration. In her sadness, she made herself unavailable to take Tina’s calls at work or home.

Why is it that I feel truly sad and sorry for Bette? She is not a bad person. She just makes bad decisions sometimes when it comes to her personal life. For a Yalie, she makes silly, unthinking mistakes. PPS cuz this story is so good and realistic.
No, don’t let Bette be calling she who must not be named!! If SHE had kept her hands and tongue to herself, none of this would have happened, and I am talking about Tina. I am surprised Tina had the nerve to look any of them in the face at Christmas. My heart is hurting for Bette…dang it squirl..I try to stay away, not get drawn in, and here I still am, all in a keffuffle!! I think Pam should look really close at the kind of person Tina is as well, and not just blame Bette for what happened. My poor fucked up Bette…sniffle…
oh squirl, don’t be pissed…you know that i love-me some b, however, losing her job is a good thing…hopefully it will force her to acknowledge that it is not all about her, she has to engage with her partner and put their feelings before her own…h shouldn’t make it easy on her..not too hard, cause my heart couldn’t take it…but not too easy…b has to earn her love…great job PPS…oh and please don’t let her call tina..pretty PLEASE!!!
Ditto to arkaycee. The one thing I take issue w/is Helena wondering if she overreacted. Of course not! Not only did she find out that the woman she loves f**ked someone else, she practically saw it w/her own eyes AND on the night of her big event! How disrespectful of Bette, though I do think she deserves forgiveness. Perhaps this leave of absense will give her the opportunity to go get her woman in NY!
bette is either calling tina kit or shane. but tina and bette really need to clear the air, and when helena is ready she and bette need to clear the air. everything that bette got into trouble with happened with 2 ppl.she should be the only one to take the blame. everyone needs to take their fair share of responsiblity! maybe bette needs to take a trip somewhere to her act together???
poor Bette. tsk
I want to agree with jp22 about Phyllis’ behavior at that party, and let’s not forget those older drunk men who were ogling and draping themselves across every young thing they could get their hands on, which I find soo offensive, but it’s ok for them, as jp said, men can do whatever they want, and be congratulated for it. Also agree that it’s totally unfair she lost her job. How much worse can Tina make it for Bette?? I protest!!!
I have to say I am absolutely loving the comments. I do love the discussion.
Belena. I think you have the wrong idea. Bette has her flaws but Tina is not without vice as will soon become apparent
Oh this was excellent! With all the drama and angst in this story it made my night. I can agree with some of the comments made about this story, but still it’s your story. And I will continue to read it as long as you write it. As for that happy ending you said it will have, take your time. I’m just preparing myself for the fireworks that are bound to happen…PPS!
I feel bad for Bette, its just that sometimes she makes bad decisions. I hope Bette is calling Kit or somebody but not Tina.
Damn! That was brilliant! The way you painted that conversation, made me feel like I was right smack in that room. I felt so bad for Bette. Did you HAVE to write “predator?” OUCH!!!! That is such a strong word, though at least in your case you are using it in a fictitious sense, I cannot stand when people are callous and misuse it only with the purpose of trying to cause harm to someone, even when there is absolutely no truth to the statement. It’s rather immoral, and I see the misuse even by Phyllis (or the board members), but in this case, it seems they just may not have the ability to pull the proper words from the English language. Bette certainly displayed some very poor judgment, but I think the board members just set a pretty good example of their own by attempting to destroy her reputation by attaching a word to her that is completely inappropriate. I did feel quite bad for Bette. She really has been a bad girl sometimes but it did not warrant the board acting so immature, and using words to defame her character. Can you say LAWSUIT Bette???? LOL! Thanks Squirl. More soon.
Okay i dont get it.Wy get Bette all the Blame? If i remember there were two ….i mean when youare drunk you do thinks been there done that got a Kid…but why does she get this kind of yeah blame she know she did something wrong but Tina too and well Helena jesus she isnt a saint ….so come one give Bette and us a break and let her loose she needs a litllehappynes in here life…..and btw i read a lot and coment very raly so iam really touched with these story so go one place…..blacky
I must say that Bette is getting what she deserves IMO, for the simple reasin that she needs to know what the heck she really wants, wake up and make choices about her life,Tina and of course Helena. Sometimes we need a rude awakening to get up back on track!!
It seems like this is turning in yet another ‘Let’s make Bette the bad guy’ story and that is exactly the reason why I stopped reading Tibette stories at the time. i am so sick and tired of Bette getting all the blame of everything that could have possibly have gone wrong in the relationship between B&T and Saint Tina is always the poor victim. Why is it that people always seem to forget there are always two to tango in a relationship and one person is never the only one to blame for a relationship going wrong. Why is it Bette always has to fuck up in every story and Tina can screw around and still ends up being adored like a fairytale princess?? I don’t get this!
I don’t either.
OK,,great story, although I agree with the comments about Bette being the bad guy. Tina, relentlessly went after her, and truly after knowing someone for 8+ years, you WILL know the buttons to push to get a rise. Bette deos make some bad decisions, but this is harsh. Sorry…love the story, even though it is heartbreaking for Bette..PPS
Hello Squirl, I don’t think Bette went into this meeting expecting anything less then what happened. Of course you hope for the best but for her nothing has been going right for a very long time. The only thing that is stable in her life is Angelica and I don’t think that that will last that long. She is without a job, so she cannot properly support her daughter, Tina is a loose cannon that it seems will stop at nothing to see that Bette is in despair. She has not once practiced one thing that would even remotely make one think that she loves this women, she has sabotaged her left and right, used her own short comings completely against her. I don’t think Bette has ever claimed that she is innocent or that she isn’t responsible for most of the hardships that are going around at the moment but the two other women within anyone of these situations have the opportunity to run away and hide while she is constantly reminded that she is a horrible person, a failure and so on. When is someone going to come knocking on Tina and Helena’s doors to show them their short falls, for it seems everyone and anyone including Bette doesn’t’ believe that have any. When are they going to realize that they are just as responsible for these events transpiring as she is, they could have stopped any number of the hurt feelings and the pain that was brought upon them, they could have just as easily walked away but no it should be Bette who has the strength to walk away, is it because she is the only adult amongst them. I’m awaiting someone coming to her door telling her that her house is being repossessed and that her adoption of Angelica has magically been reversed. Hehe, this story has so many layers. Keep on Rocking Squirl. Sincerely, JC
Hello again, and I hope that she is calling Kit, cause at this moment all her other “Friends” aren’t worth their weight in sand. At least with Kit she might have disappointed her with her actions but she isn’t going to lose her… she is family. Sincerely, JC
Ah! Continuing to stir up this intense discussion, eh, Squirl? Why is everyone so eager to point fingers? None of this stuff has happened in a vacuum. The dynamics that exist among Tina, Bette and Helena are clearly volatile. At least Helena had the sense to see it, but her heart overruled her mind. Bette and Tina haven’t moved on as much as they think, but it’s not really about them getting back together. I think each of them is trying to capture–or recapture–the positive things in past significant relationships in the ones they are currently pursuing. In other words, being in love with love, or its ideal, rather than fully dealing with the realities of their current situations. I still believe that Helena’s love is the purest of what we’re seeing, but these folks are all victims of bad timing right now. I love how you brought in the history of Bette’s extracurricular activities since she arrived at the University. Maybe now she’ll really have the time to reflect on her part in all of this. And I also believe it’s Kit she called. PPS!
Seems as if everyone either thinks Bette is the villian or the goat. I don’t dislike Bette, shes my favorite character. But I do see in this story she is really f……….ed up, and has not as of yet begun to deal with what has made her this way. Tina nor Helena can make Bette do anything, they may be able to help her if she asks for it, but Bette has chosen to do the very things that have gotten her into trouble. She is an adult, she can make choices good or bad. I just feel she doesnt have a clue as to why she makes the wrong choices, and until she recognizes she needs professional help, she will continue to make bad choices!
Cheer up squirl, sorry you had problems posting but I sure am glad to see an update. Why Bette Why? Did she have to get fired? I mean wasn’t being caught by Helena and f***ing Tina the bottom of the barrel? Now she’s jobless too? Are you sure you don’t want to revisit my jumping off a cliff scenario squirl? Please tell me that Bette isn’t calling Tina? Let it be Shane, Kit, Alice….anyone else….PLEASE! And I know that Bette’s behavior has been reprehensible but did she have to get fired? I mean couldn’t they hit her with a awarning first? Who is the university going to find that can replace the fabulous Bette Porter? Phyllis and her board friends may want to think long and hard about making the leave of abscence a permanent situation. I guess the Christmas miracle has come to an end for Bette and now it’s back to the somber reality of her real life. So what’s next squirl? Will Bette regain Helena’s trust? Will Tina and Pam become an official item? Or will everything go to hell and Bette will go groveling back to Tina just because she knows she can have her? Inquiring minds (ME) want to know. PPS!
That is so not fair that Bette’s practically gotten fired. Not fair at all. If she were a man she’d have been invited down the lodge for cigars and brandy and get loads of backslaps of congratulation for the multiple conquests or some such rubbish. I frankly think they’re all just jealous that she’s getting plenty and they’re not. Predator, indeed. Takes two. No one batted an eye at Phyllis cheating on her husband, did they? Cos if they saw Bette partaking of some ganja, they likely also saw Phyllis begging Alice not to leave? But then, Phyllis is the boss, so… And as for Bette and Tina, they need to have A Discussion, and either try again, or draw a line under their relationship and move the heck on. If I were Pam, I would have nothing to do with Tina until that discussion is done and dusted. Helena… deserves to be treated more fairly. I think she’s waiting on that discussion too. Right! Lot to think about this chapter… I’m enjoying this story loads, Squirl… post soon, and thanks!
Ok, I might just be a sucker for drama, but somehow I hope this last person Bette is calling on the phone is Tina. These two definitely need to talk to clarify some things ( and for Bette to apologize ) and right now I think they both could do with a friend. Besides, if something should happen again between them, at least they’ll know… Can you tell I don’t like this Pam one bit ? LOL !! She just seems too perfect, way too perfect to be dating ( let alone fall in love with ) any of these ladies, if you ask me. ‘Cause let’s be honest for a sec, we love Bette, Tina and Helena for their faults and shortcomings as much as for their qualities. They’re only human beings, aren’t they ? Anyway, poooooor Bette… Did she really deserve all the sh.. she’s going through ? Well, I guess so, if only for the sake of drama, huh ? LOL ! Nice chapter, Squirl ! I’m hooked on this story.
Bette will call Kit (just a guess squirl). In times of crisis, we always turn to people who loves us unconditionally…..I feel really sad for Bette but when you itemized what she did while employed as a dean, I never realized she really had f***ed up from the start and how immature those behavior…..I think being fired (again) will be good for her so that she’ll have time to think her failures, which mostly are result of poor judgement, imaturity not to mention that she is sooo inlove with her self…..This bette seem to be thinking only her own satisfaction….
I hope Bette’s calling big sis because if it’s Tina I’m afraid she will just end up in bed with her. When it’s all said and done Bette’s just a weak person who takes pity on herself when things get tough.
ok Squirl I’ll torture myself and just stock wit your story and wait and see what Da Queena is going to do.Besides I also agree with jp22 why is it Bette gets fired for having a fling with her TA and a relationship with Jodie while Phyllis cheats on her husband by screwing around with ALice, drinks herself lazarus because of a broken heart, than goes to Joyce Wischnia and ends up in her bed… Why is all that tolerated?? Just because she is the Counselor of the University, is that why her behaviour is allowed???
Hope Tina is happy she has destroyed Bette again! I kind of wish that Bette would leave town only telling Kit where she was so Kit could bring her Angelica and maybe we would see who her true friends and true love really were.
