Tina Kennard woke up to the house that she once knew, the home she once shared with the person whom she loved the most, and the life she knew she once had. She felt a warm space near her, but felt no sign of her lover. It was a bright but windy morning, the morning after the whirlwind that was last night’s unexpectedly disastrous wrap party, and she walked down the hallway, following the sounds of a voice muttering in the kitchen. She then saw her daughter, Angelica, walking around the room, looking for something, and holding a familiar glass.

“Mama T?” Angelica said, looking up at her. “Where’s Mama B?”

“I don’t know, sweetie,” Tina replied, picking her little girl up. “She probably went somewhere.” She then settled Angelica the sofa and turned on the TV, looking for any sign as to where Bette might have gone. While Angelica was distracted by her favorite cartoon characters, Tina then noticed the blinking light on the telephone and pushed the button for the voicemail.

Tina? It’s Bette. I’m calling from the beach. Please don’t follow me or bring Angie there. I have my own company.  I just… I just need to figure out some things on my own. I think we might be moving a little too fast and I need to take a step back and see if this is what’s right for me. I need to be sure of whatever this is before it goes on. If you want to take Angie back to your place, it’s fine. I’ll pick her up next weekend from your place. Have a good day. Bye.

Tina stared at the answering machine for a few minutes, wondering what caused Bette to run away from her so suddenly. Her voice seemed a little shaken and a little uncertain. She thought that after everything else that had happened, they would be spending the day together as a family, away from the messy drama between Jenny and Shane. She didn’t even say ‘I love you’, Tina thought. Tina leaned against the sink, as she watched Angie expertly get herself her own breakfast and walk back to the sofa, in the comfort of her Saturday morning cartoons and her bowl of milk and cereal. She walked back to the bedroom, got out her phone and dialed Kit.

    1. I thought during season 2 that Jenny and Bette were going to forge a good friendship, but it never really happened. It’s a pity it didn’t. This was a great read, blueskies, I hope you post something else soon. Thanks

    2. That was a cute story. Bette would be good for Jenny. Hopefully Jenny and Shane can work out their issues. As for Bette and Tina, they both have messed up royally but the love is definitely there.

    3. Sometimes its the ones that are further from the center of things that see it more clearly. Bette and Jenny have always been polar opposits, looking at each other from the outside, I think they were the perfect two to have this discussion. Glad to see all tina cared about was how Bette and Jenny were. They’ll make it I know they will.
