    Author Notes:

    The lazy day.

    Tina goes to shower and change in the guest bathroom.  When she exits the bathroom, she can smell breakfast.  She enters the kitchen to find Bette just putting the final touches on their food.

     

    “Just in time.”  Bette smiles at her.  “I thought I was gonna have to come drag you out of the shower to join me for breakfast.”

     

    “You could have come and joined me,” Tina winked at her.

     

    “Soon, babe.”  Bette puts two plates on the table and they enjoy their breakfast.

     

     

     

    After the dishes are cleared and put away, Bette asks Tina, “So what is your definition of a lazy day?”

     

    “No leaving this house.  No guests.  No demands on our time.  And no watches allowed,” as she removes Bette’s watch from her wrist and lays it on the kitchen counter.  “We’ll eat when we’re hungry and nap if we feel like it.  The outside world does not exist.”

     

    “I like your lazy day.”  A second later, “Can I still read my newspaper?” as she heads for the front door.

     

    “If that’s what you want.”

     

    Bette stops for a second, “Can we read it together?” 

     

    Tina smiles, “Sure.”

     

    Bette retrieves the paper from the front yard and suggests they enjoy the back deck.  Our girls snuggle up in Bette’s oversized hammock.

     

    “So which section do you read first?” Tina asks.

     

    “I always go straight for the comics.  Then I’ll move on to headlines and business.  You?”

     

    “I like to start with the entertainment section.  I save the comics for last.”

     

    It’s all the little things we need to learn about each other.  “Here you go,” as Bette hands over a section.

     

    They’ve been reading for a few minutes when Tina feels Bette staring at her.  She looks up to meet Bette’s eyes.  A few seconds go by. 

     

    “I love you,” Bette starts.  “And I’m so glad you’re here with me right now.”

     

    Tina smiles shyly, blown away by the intensity in Bette’s voice and eyes.  “I love you too Bette,” she strains to get out.

     

    Bette picks up all the newspaper sections and tosses them onto the ground.  She props herself up on one elbow and smiles down at Tina.  She’s having a hard time not laughing.  “T, did you have a good dream this morning?”

    6. Wow, you are really lingering this 1st time on… you are certainly doing great by teasing your captivated audience…. Great story………… cant wait to see when they will be intimate for the 1st time!

    8. Have I told you how much I adore your Bette..she is amazing! As I was reading this I suddenly remembered the movie but I love your version much better..happy, full of love, minor drama. Thanks for writing it for us.
