Girl Friday part 8
Drip….
Three weeks, six days.
Drip….
That’s how long I’ve been sitting here on my bathroom floor listening to my leaky faucet.
Drip….
It feels like it’s been longer, though that could be from the blood loss caused by too many nose bleeds.
Drip….
I have no one left now. The only one left was my boss and he called somewhere around week two to tell me i was fired.
Drip….
That’s not true…
What?
Drip….
You have me….
Perfect. Here I am, sitting on the bathroom floor listening to a dripping appliance.
"Come now, Bette. You asked me to never leave you and here I am keeping up my end of the bargain. You’re the one running around with some bar tramp."
"Go away." God, I sound so weak.
"Always and forever, baby. I’m not going anywhere." She’s laughing at me again. I’m always the punchline at the end of a bitter joke.
"Get the fuck out!" My anger only makes me seem more pitiful.
"Are you angry, Bette? That seems a little odd considering the situation we seem to have found ourselves. You have no right to be angry seeing as you’re the one who str-"
"What do you want from me!?" The tears spilling down my face take my remaining sanity with them.
"All this time and you still can’t say my name. Is it that hard, Bette? Does it hurt that bad to know what did? I’m hurting, too, Bette. But I’m sure you already know that."
"Please! Just tell me what you want!" I’m hysterical now. I just want it all to end.
"I want her, Bette. I was there that night and I saw how much you like her. Hell, I think you might even love the little whore. Usually, I’d like you all to myself, but I don’t want to lose you. The easiest remedy for this is to make her apart of our little family. You’ve had you’re taste, now I want mine."
"No!"
"Oh, yes. I’m sick of being on the outside looking in. I’ve suffered enough by your hands and it’s time for me to have a little happiness. You’re mine, Bette. Just like I’m yours. I’m in your veins like a drug, baby, and there ain’t no way you’re coming down. I lay my heart at your feet and yet you go looking for love elsewhere. That hurts; that hurts deeply. I can’t bear to lose you and if that means adding some stranger into our life, then so be it. I’m doing all this for you."
"No! I won’t let you!"
"Ha! As if you had a choice. Remember all those times when you were feeling lovey-dovey and poetic and you said, "I wish were one"? Well wish granted, baby! Come and get you’re prize!"
Suddenly I feel like I’ve been hit in the chest with an invisible bullet. Hot, piercing pain courses through my veins like soldiers marching to battle. My hand are grabbing furiously in the air. For help, for an anchor, for her. Things come to an end at the center of my forehead. Long, cold nails are driven into my skull and the pain is so elaborate that all she can do is pass out. Sleep now, Bette. It’s gonna be a long night.

Bette needs to check herself into a mental ward because she has no business being around people. PS….keep her away from Helena until she can lose her second personality :).
Wow—–Need to go back and read the last 7 chapters
I’m with RB on this one, kind-of….I want Helena to come and love her back into her senses so she can get over the heartbreak of the one who haunts her.
