    Chapter 78 –

    Alice
    carried her goodies over to a table and took a seat.  She pulled out the scone and finished it in
    mere moments.  Smacking her lips she chased
    the scone with some coffee and was finally beginning to feel more like herself
    this morning.  The cob webs were
    beginning to clear and the sugar in the scone was reaching her brain cells.  Alice
    pulled out her note pad and began outlining what she knew in one column.

     

           
    Bette started the MYV

           
    The name means For Tina my love or something of
    that nature

           
    Bette brought Jackie to town  – this thought brought back the remarks made
    by Jackie last night.  As Alice nibbled on her
    muffin she was trying to recall every word that Jackie has said but all she
    could remember was how uncomfortable Bette had been. 

           
    The foundation started with a donation of
    $100,000,000

           
    None of the board members appear to know about
    Bettes involvement but Jackie does

           
    No one seems to know the real meaning behind the
    name.

     

    As Alice
    stared at the things she knew it wasnt a very long list.  Looking at it just brought up more
    questions.  As Alice took another bite of the muffin she
    figured she might as well write the questions down as well

     

           
    How did Bette pull this off?

           
    Where did the money come from?  Alice
    knew that Bette had a good job and did well but $100 million – really thats a
    lot of money

           
    Who else knows of Bettes involvement?

    Tina?

    James?

    Shane?

    Kit?

           
    Why did Bette keep this a secret?  At this question Alice is wondering if there is more than
    there appears with just starting the foundation.

           
    How do I find out about the money with going to
    Bette directly? 

     

    Alice
    realizes the money will be the key which answers a lot of these questions.  Once again she feels like an investigational
    reporter on the hunt and in this case its hunting the money trail.  Alice
    lifts her head and breaths in through her nose, she can just smell where she
    needs to go.
     

     

    Chapter 78

     

    Alice
    had just finished up talking with her editor and was making her way back to her
    desk.  He had been quite impressed with Alices ability to secure
    an interview with Dr. Phil.  Alice almost had to laugh
    at the way his jaw dropped in disbelief only to recover himself by thinking up
    some questions he felt she just had to get into her interview.  Like that would really happen Alice thought to
    herself.  She was more than capable of
    coming up with her own material, thank you very much.  The last time he had interfered in her stuff was
    the MYV Foundation article and look at what a mess that turned into.  She didnt like spending all her time
    cleaning up messes of his making but still she guesses one or two of his
    questions werent so bad if she just re-arranged them a little.

    5. I get the feeling that Alice’s ‘investigative reporting’ has more to do with being nosy or possibly even because she is jealous that she was left out of the loop by Bette. If Bette hadn’t already told Tina, Alice would be walking a thin line between being a friend and becoming an enemy. Hopefully the information that she is gathering on Helena will be enough to sidetrack her into implicating Helena is some wrong doing. Now, that would make Bette happy.

      Day dreaming Bette is just too cute. Kit telling her like it is was excellent. Tina loving the fact that Bette was there cooking dinner was a wonderful ‘awww’ moment.

    6. Hey Jwet, excellent post I was thinking the same as angelak in regards to Kit knowing about Melvin´s money having to do with the MYV, if so didn´t Melvin left anything to Kit?

    13. Loved the chapter, and thanks for the help with MYV. I din’t mean to sound like such a baby about it , but I had lost sight of the other lettering with all of my reading and hecked sechdule. Poor Alice, she can waste more energy on simple task—geez. I think her time will be better spent on Helena’s missapropreation of funds. Besides, I know Ms. Peabody is still going to try to pour some more cold water on Bette and Tina, she just can’t help herself. That is why I want you to put or attach dog, Alice, on her a**. Please post again soon.

      I love this story and I am sorry that I don’t comment too often…reading at work makes it hard to concentrate on letting youknow how much I love this story. I am with Kit….when is Bette moving back home. It seems that most of the big hurdles have been crossed…..unless Alice muddies the water!

      Am sitting at work in almost total darkness as we have had a power cut. Battery power is a wonderful invention.
      Weather is steaming hot for bonny Scottie land. In the 90s.
      Am not cut out for this.
      On to the glorious tale:
      What? No subtitle?
      Luved it. Kit’s not so gentle persuasion to get Bette to admit what she really wants, was genius and so very Kitty Katty. At least Bette accepted that she has the power and will to be everything that Tina and Anna want and need.
      As for Alice, very interesting turn of events. The juicy little morsels that are escaping about the finances of one Miss Helena Peabody could be the start of her downfall and comeuppance. Bette too, needs to have a hand in it I hope.
      No questions today as just too damn hot!
      Glad to see that you are finally getting the advantage of your boat. Not jealous at all. (Believe that and I have some magic beans to sell you.)
