Chapter 29 – Collaborations
Bette was moving through traffic on her way to her meeting with Oscar at the Center. With any luck when the meeting was done she might be able to have some coffee with Tina. Tina knew about the meeting but said her schedule was kind of hectic and that she might not be able to accommodate Bette. Well Bette thought Ill just have to take my chances.
Walking into the Center, Bette is reminded of the last time she was here. The time she found out that Tina was pregnant from of all people Helena Peabody. The thought made Bette shudder, my how far she was from that moment but yet at times it feels so close. That had been possibly the lowest day of her life. She was far from it in the fact that she was now at peace with herself and her purpose for life now but close in that the pain was still there. Hopefully with time Bette would forget the pain.
Bette was seated in Oscars office as he came bursting in, running late as usual. Bette thank you for coming to my office. I know that you are a busy woman, sorry for making you wait. Oscar starts off trying to prevent a Bette meltdown which he has seen in the past.
No Oscar its quite alright. I know you have been under the gun with all the projects you have taken on. I was happy to accommodate you. Bette assures him.
At this Oscar just looks up at Bette, this wasnt the answer he expected. Well than what can I do for you? I understand that you want to do some sort of project which would include the Center, that was the message I got. Is that right? At this Oscar gives Bette his undivided attention.
At this Bette begans to describe what she had in mind. Her thoughts are multifaceted. The first is about how to increase corporate exposure for the center. With the corporate connections that Bette had access to through the CAC, she was looking for some sort of collaboration between the Center and the CAC. This collaboration would bring these corporate leaders into contact with the good works that the Center was involved. Through this exposure, Bette hoped to raise awareness of the Center and its good works. This added exposure would in turn bring more funding opportunities through corporation donations. This project should involve art in some fashion with the kids which would ultimately help the kids themselves by doing a project with art that would help their self esteem. In this way the project would bring money, help the image of the Center and help the kids directly all at the same time.

Nice building chapter…Bette moves forward, forging an unexpected path. I’m also feeling a bit cheated on my BnTness – but this is more from last night’s episode than from your story; the fic just makes a good supplement. Well done.

Good to see that the plan is starting to come together although Tina is still the master of her on destiny and that Bette is modifying some of her bad behaviours thus growing as a person.
