    Friendship Foundation Chapter 23

Bette sat on the edge of the bed and leaned across Tina to place her hand down. Tina’s head was turned and flat to the bed’s surface, the pillow having been pushed to the other side. The expanse of her bare back invited Bette’s attention.

She placed kisses up the length of her spine, starting at the dip of Tina’s low back and working her way higher. Bette felt Tina stir underneath her contact. She eventually veered off and spoke quietly in Tina’s ear.

"Would you rather sleep or eat?"

Tina rolled onto her back, and reached to grasp a fistful of Bette’s zippered sweatshirt to pull her closer.

    "Guess again."

Cold food, but warm hearts were the feature for the evening.

    Chapter 23

The harsh ring of the phone pierced the silence of Bette’s bedroom.

Tina barely moved while Bette lifted her head and tried to get her bearings.

"Who is phoning at this time of day?" she said groggily.

Tina pushed herself a little higher to view the clock on Bette’s side of the bed.

"It’s three in the afternoon," Tina said, placing her head back down on the surface of the bed. "Any other day it would be a perfectly civilized time to call."

Bette reached to answer the phone.

"What the hell Bette?" Alice’s voice made its way over the line. "Why does it sound like I’m waking the dead?"

"I haven’t had much sleep," Bette replied after clearing her throat. "I was having a nap."

"Great, then you’ll be ready to go dancing tonight," Alice said.

"Dancing?" Bette said, more for Tina’s benefit than for any real need to clarify what Alice had said. Tina seemed to ponder the idea momentarily before shrugging her shoulders and nodding to affirm an interest in going out.

"Dana, me, even Shane said she’d be there," Alice offered. "Have you talked to Tina lately?"

    "She’s actually here," Bette said.

"I thought you said you were having a nap…oooh, that’s why you haven’t had much sleep," Alice’s realization dawned on her. "Obviously the pool party debacle blew over."

It was hard to believe that had all transpired just the previous weekend.

    1. Ah life…it keeps us busy. Thanks for the update Swimmie. I’ve been going through withdrawals this whole week. Have a great Sunday night and a stress-free week.

    2. At least Tina has a confidante. A fresh perspective always helps. It’s probably for the best that Alice seems fully gotten back into friendship mode and is even to the point of being able to tease Bette about her new relationship. Thanks for the post. :)

    3. Loved the update. Tina is falling into this life very well and seemingly bashfullness has gone out the window. Her feelings, and need for Bette has taken over. Thanks for posting. Always here waiting for you.

    4. Finally got caught up with this story – amazing and fun as always! I hope you keep going and don’t stop this tale just because they have done the deed! lol. PPS

    5. Loved the update. I appreciate your dedication to this story. I look forward to your additions every week or more, if you can. I love the everyday nature of their relationship as I imagine JB and LuH fulfilling those roles. The banter among all the characters is special and on point.
