Tina was reluctant to let the hope that suddenly sprang up to take root. Dismissing the dream she responded casually. “Sounds like something for the next millennia.”
“Actually it’s already in trials. Female sperm has successfully fertilized human female eggs. The next step is implantation to see if an embryo can develop. There are a handful of doctors worldwide involved in the trials and one of them is Dr. Wilson here in LA. I am really excited. If and when I meet that special woman and I want to start a family it would be amazing to have our own biological child.” Lucy said a wistful note in her voice.
“This is amazing information how come it isn’t all over the lesbian community. I’m just hearing about it now?” Tina’s eyebrow rose skeptically.
“Think about it Tina. With the current administration’s limits on stem cell research even for ‘acceptable’ diseases how this research would go down. Women being able to have children without men is a male nightmare.”
“So how is Dr. Wilson able to participate in such a trial?”
“As I said it is an international study so there are special dispensations given. The trial lab has the status of an embassy of sorts in the medical community. It’s not technically on US soil and not funded by tax dollars. Still the powers that be get to keep an eye on the research while pretending it isn’t happening. You can read more about the science and study itself in the International Journal of Fertility.”
“Lucy put a hold on my request. Send my vial back to the bank.” Before she was out the door she was on her Blackberry.
“Monica, research.”
“Tina. Monica tell me what you know about female sperm.”
“Well it seems that in certain stem cells in the bone marrow of females sperm exists…” Monica began.
“Can it be used to fertilize an egg?”
“Theoretically yes, trials are running in Europe but the progress is being kept very quiet in the US.”
“Put together a package for me will you. I’ll pick it up tomorrow.”
“Yes boss.”
“Thanks, Monica.”

Bette walked into her office after finishing her seminar and was pleasantly surprised to find Tina behind her desk.

Good twist. I was wandering when one of you great writers were going to tackle the topic of female sperm. And if anyone should be able to have a child in this way it should be B&T (drama and all bring it on). I cannot wait to see if this comes to past in this story. Thank you, Brave one.

Yes, female sperm is a lesbian’s dream come true and I wish I was a lot of years younger with that spsecial lady, I would certainly give it a try. Seems Tina is ready to take charge and get them involved in the trials. Hope it works for them, that would be absolutely marvelous. Great update Kelika. Love it. PPS

I love the way that new technology could give Bette and Tina the child they both so desire. And Phyllis busting in on them was hysterical. Just made me LOL. great post! the part with phyllis was very funny! the female sperm part is a nice new twist but isn’t bette getting pregnant a little soon if rowan is only 7 months? maybe T should be the one getting pregnant?

I love the idea of a child that is their combined genetics! And I absolutely love the energy between them. When you know what its like to lose someone and get that second (or third!) chance, you realize that you have no time to waste on the bullsh*t! Thanks for this story, Kelika. Lin

Great update! Female Sperm…I do believe Katherine V. Forrest wrote about females impregnating their female partners in her novel “Daughters Of A Coral Dawn”. Talk about life impersonating fiction….PPS
