Expedition of the Heart—Chapter 8
Shane pulled her small truck into a street near where Francesca and Marina lived and shut off the engine. The neighborhood was a mixture of small shops and old houses, so an added vehicle would easily go unnoticed. Jack, are you sure you wanna help with this? she asked the dirty looking teen next to her.
I told you I owe ya. Besides, I had to watch my dad beat the ***** outta my mom every day. This ***** dont fly with me. As he spoke he inspected the small revolver he had brought along… just in case. Shane took a deep breath and opened her door. The two of them walked through the neighborhood as if they belonged and quickly cut behind a building. Making their way through a few bushes, they eventually reached a spot where they could see the house. Hidden by a small fence, they sat for a few moments watching.
Knowing Fran shes gonna bolt. I just hope she hasnt yet, Shane whispered. As if on cue, Francesca exited the house carrying a suitcase and a couple of small bags. The woman haphazardly threw them in her car and returned to the house quickly. Thats her. Jack nodded his head and moved to stand. The two of them worked their way across the street and prepared to confront the redhead. As they passed the car, they noticed that the woman had been busy emptying the house of her belongings. The Mercedes was nearly full of bags and boxes that were spilling over. As they approached the door, they could see that Fran had left it open and they silently stepped inside. They could hear the woman rummaging upstairs and Shane motioned for Jack to close the door. Shane stood at the base of the stairs waiting. It wasnt long before Francesca emerged, her arms loaded with clothes on hangers.
Going somewhere? Shane asked leaning against the railing. Francesca stopped midway down the stairs with a sincere look of shock on her face. She recovered quickly and the anger and hatred returned.
What the ***** are you doing here? she asked with her voice full of venom. Shane noticed that she had a slightly bruised cheek, but other than that, she bore no signs of the altercation Shane had been told about.

This is a great story and really well written – I’m only sad Marina could not have broken away from Francesca (without getting shot), in the show
