“So, T are you going to tell my why you were crying today?”
“I don’t know Bette, are you going to tell me why you have been MIA for six weeks, and why you couldn’t even pick up a phone to let me know you were still breathing? And you better be enjoying that whole breathing thing, because as we speak, I am coming up with several different and painful ways to kill you dead.”
“Bette! Are you going to answer my question, or are you just going to sit there like a dilbert?”
I had heard what she said but I was too busy looking at her chest. Not for the obvious reasons, but because when she got mad she always got this red spot on her chest. I always told her it looked like the state of Virginia on her chest, so when she got mad I would call her Virginia and that would just make her even angrier.
“I was just enjoying my last breaths. Breathe in, breathe out, breathe in, and breathe out, ahhhhhhh…..the joy of filling my lungs with threats; you and your threats. If I had a nickel for every time you have threatened me, well, then I would have been able to get you a better house warming gift.”
“Maybe it’s time I actually follow through with one then.”
“I do want to tell you why I haven’t been around lately, so, if you could hold off on my untimely death, I would be very grateful.”
“I don’t owe you any favors, but I want to know where the hell you’ve been and why, so color you lucky, you get to live another day.”
“Thank you Virginia.”
As soon as I said it she looked down at her chest and then walked over to her closet and threw on a sweater.
“Damn it! Why does it always do that? I should just start wearing turtle necks when I’m around you! You always bring Virginia out!”
“I know. I’m sorry; I do seem to be really good at making you mad at me.”
“And if you weren’t even better at making me love you I wouldn’t have taken you off death row, now shut your mouth and start talking.”

Now that it is out in the open, I want to know just how Tina reacts to the news. Tina’s mother already knows that they are in love with each other, I think Tina is the only one that has not realized her true feelings for Bette. So glad Bette told her. You do have a fully developed sense of humor and I love it. Virginia, that was too funny. Thanks for posting and please, please post again very soon. Can hardly wait to know Tinas reaction.

I usually love stories where B&T are best friends before becoming anything more (wait… they will be more than friends here, right? ;) ). And in this area, you story is great.
