They used the rest of the day to walk along the Seine and drinking coffee or coke in cozy cafés. Edith was constantly talking about Naomi to her sister and eventually her mother, Tina talked to Bette, enjoying being close to her again and Yves just kept on talking to Judith.

The day was a success and now, both women were looking forward to tonight, being alone with each other but also terrified at the same time. They had a great day together but they knew that even if they had 10 years to process everything, there were still a lot of unresolved issues between them. One thing they were both certain of was that they still loved one another. In which way was yet to be determined.

CHAPTER SEVEN…

They sat at a small table in a corner of the bar, talking lightly.

Bette: Now, tell me, what was Edith talking about?

Tina giggled.

Tina: I’m not going to tell you that.

Bette: Oh, come on, Tee.

Tina sighed.

Tina: She just walked in on me and Leo having sex. That’s it. She was about to describe it in detail.

Bette chuckled.

Bette: Thank God, you stopped that, I so don’t need to hear that.

Tina smiled: See, I knew you didn’t want to know that.

Bette: Yves also walked in on Vivienne and me but he was three. I doubt he still remembers it.

Tina: You should ask him.

Bette laughed: No, that’s weird.

Tina: Maybe…

They looked at each other, a comfortable silence developed. Bette broke it after a few moments.

Bette: I’ve enjoyed just being around you. I’ve missed you.

Tina smiled at Bette.

Tina: Me to… This reminded me of our trip to Rome 12 years ago. It was beautiful.

Bette chuckled: The only thing I can remember is how our bedroom looked…

Tina gave her a playful slap.

Tina: Behave.

Bette laughed.

Bette: Come on. We had some nice evenings in that room.

Tina: Oh, yeah…

Unconsciously, Tina licked her lips. Bette loved that.

Bette: I think you look better now than you did back then.

Tina looked at Bette and chuckled: Bette, I was 29 and now I am 41. I must have looked better.
