Did she say something wrong?  She had no idea. Fuck!  She gingerly tried to rephrase her last sentence, “I said, I was a bad influence, I will stay away from her.  You don’t need to worry that she will turn bad.”

Ray smirked, “Don’t pretend to be tough.  You will never be as bad as my sister!  If you are not careful, she may influence you too!”

Shane was taken back, not knowing how to react.

Ray continued, “Actually, my aim today is very simple. I am hoping that you could be my sister’s bodyguard.  24 hours on call.”

Shane looked at him strangely, thinking this must be some kind of a joke. 

“Please look at these 4 men.” Ray waved some guys to come over.  Shane saw that they had bruises all over different parts of their bodies, one even had a plaster on his arm.

“What happened?”  Shane asked.

“Carmen’s work of art.”  Ray said embarrassingly.

“They were Carmen’s bodyguards?” Shane didn’t really want to know the answer to this question.

Ray sneered at those so called bodyguards whom couldn’t even protect themselves against a girl.

“Carmen is not a protected animal though.” Shane smiled bitterly.

“Well, Shane.  You know, because of what I do, in my line of work, Carmen could be in danger anytime.”  He explained. She did not even want to ask what line of work he meant.  Looking from his clothes and mannerisms, she could guess it’s the dangerous kind.   Not to mention having a rebel sister like Carmen, he must be some sort of gangster.

“Ok, then that’s sorted.  You will be her bodyguard from now on. I will take care of your resignation here.”  He said loudly.

Shane glanced at Chase who was listening to the whole conversation.  He didn’t dare to interrupt Ray.

“I can introduce you to my security guard friend over…” She was trying to talk her way out but was interrupted by Ray rudely.

He was waving angrily, knocked some of the display off the shelf too.  Shane was scared that her skull might the next thing that he hit to the ground.  Sound of her skull cracking on the floor did not sound too appealing to her.
