    Chapter6.

The clock struck noon. I sighed and returned to the computer screen buzzing noisily in front of me. The bright screen was a blur; a mixture of numbers and letters in an incoherent jumble from a language which once was.

    Eddie! The computers fucked again!

Of course no one except a computer could understand it, it was in fact computer gibberish. The kind which the printer tended to print out randomly when it was just about to stop working. Technology; the wonder of modern day inventions, which would probably be quicker done by hand. At least then the blame could go to an actual person instead of a machine which was completely devoid of any kind of emotion and incapable of comprehendible thought. Which, admittedly could also be said for some people, in fact a disturbingly large amount of people.

    Whats the problem Trix?

Eddie, the computer guy. Was never too sure what he did at the office except fix the computers which broke. By computers I mean my computer and it was the one exception for being capable of comprehendible thought. The mass of chips, wires and plastic was very capable of one particular thought which was, lets piss Trixie off today by making everything she tries to do, go wrong. Every bloody day it found something new to annoy me with. But that was it, I wasn’t going to give in and get another computer, this was a vendetta. It was made personal the day it decided to send a rather private e-mail, which was specifically addressed to my friend to the entire office, twice.

Its doing something strange, again. I mumbled, wheeling my chair back to let the slightly plump and rather pungent Edward past.

Trix, I think you should just stick to writing things out in future.

I smiled at his back, imagining pushing him straight into the screen and watching as the volts of electricity surged through his deeply cut and burnt face. Frying what little impotent brain he did have and leaving his overly hairy body limp and lifeless.

Well I would be more than happy to do that Edward if the wonderful boss didn’t adamantly repeat the fact that this is a modern company, which uses modern computers for everything and no longer worked in the stone age, but in the twenty first century. I said through gritted teeth, reiterating the words which the big, bad boss repeated at least once during every meeting.

    1. “…I felt like shouting and screaming whilst running round the office with my pants on my head, at least they’d let me go home early. Even if my home had suddenly turned into a mental institute, it would still be better than being sat at work.”
