What the fuck had happened? Did they change their minds about him? Maybe didn’t trust him to do the job? 

Whaaat? On this chick?  Granted, the security protecting her closed off many of the easy angles that would have been available with any other target. Jerrod thought the main guy, in particular, middle-aged but in shape was pretty seasoned, judging by the way he’d coordinated the protection, even with pretty thin back-up.  Was it because of that old guy that they’d lost confidence in Jerrod?  Sheesh, just for that I’ll take him out, too.  Two for one special.  Just for The Man.

It had taken him and Duane, the spotter he’d used on the last job, a lot of work to re-establish their “eyes” on the brunette. Good thing she was, well, one of the most beautiful women he’d ever laid eyes on. It had been a bonus to monitor her, being so easy on the eyes, and all.  It was going to almost hurt to press the trigger that would dim the lights incandescent in those huge brown eyes. 

The night before, he’d picked up the shape of the sexy shadow he’d grown accustomed to … well… drooling over, just before it crossed under a lamplight in the corner of one of the alleyways that led to the Chelsea flat of the sexy redhead, no slouch herself in the looks department.

Duane had then lip-read the concierge of the building early the next morning, as he opened the glass doors of the building for her. “Enjoy the Virginia wine country miss,” Duane read through high-powered binoculars.  Which puzzled them, but, since the brunette had taken off in a helicopter, they made a beeline for Virginia, after jacking a black Merc S-Class that, although was about 9 years old, had a lot of horsepower to it. 

Lucky they picked that car to jack: it fit right into this town.

The brunette was about to cross to the opposite side of Washington street, waiting patiently for the light to change. Jerrod hurriedly pulled out his phone to call Duane, to order him to pick him up from the agreed meeting spot, hurriedly yanking his sunglasses off as he dialed.  Duane had driven to another town to jack another car after dropping Jerrod off as they entered Middleburg, and Jerrod hoped his spotter was back in town.
