    Chapter 5

The next morning, Tina wakes first and looks over to Bette sleeping alongside her. She smiles as she watches her for a moment, before gently moving Bette’s arm from around her waist and carefully slipping out of the bed. She makes her way to the kitchen and makes a pot of coffee, taking the pot and two mugs out onto the terrace.

Bette wakes a short time later and moves her hand across the sheets in search of Tina. She lifts her head and looks to the empty bed beside her, and then glances around the room. She rises from the bed and pulls on a robe, and then makes her way to the terrace doors.

Tina looks over at her from the small outdoor table when she hears the door.

    (Tina smiles) Hi

(Bette smiles) Hi. Sorry, have you been awake long?

Tina smiles and shakes her head.

(Tina) No, not long. I’m having my first coffee

She holds up the second mug.

    (Tina) Would you like one?

    (Bette smiles) Thank you, yes

Bette moves over and takes a seat alongside her, and Tina pours her coffee and places it in front of her.

They both have a sip of coffee and Tina looks over to her.

(Tina) Do you feel like finding somewhere in Oia for breakfast?

Bette nods and places her mug back on the table.

(Bette) Sure, there are a few places I’ve walked past that look very good

    Tina nods.

(Tina) Well let’s finish these and go for a walk, we can see what we feel like

    (Bette smiles) OK

They finish their coffees and Bette returns to her room so they can both get ready. She returns to Tina’s room a short while later and they then set out to walk the winding streets together, eventually deciding on a tucked away cafe with a casual and inviting atmosphere.

They enjoy their breakfast and then spend some time wandering through some market stalls set up along the promenade.  Tina stops at a stall displaying a range of handmade jewellery from various local artists. She inspects several pieces, and picks up a particular pendant and examines it more closely. Bette looks over at her.

(Bette) Are lotus flowers significant for you?
