Chapter 14 – Meetings
Bette and Tina awaken early. They spent an hour making love and getting to know each other’s body once again. The love making was reminiscent of their first times together some twenty-three years ago when Tina was new to lesbian love making. They had both chosen the gentle and slow methods of bringing about their climax this morning rather than the vigorous and rougher sexual techniques of the prior night. They wanted to have plenty of time to engage in sex, recover and repeat. They both wanted their first oral sexual encounters to be an unhurried and deliberate expressions of their love. And having only an hour or so time availability did not seem adequate time to satisfy their desires to experience each other in both a giving and a receiving role. For both Tina and Bette, this was the most intimate and intense sexual act, and they were both anxious for the time to come to renew their love. For this was an act of complete surrender and intimacy for one another and they wanted to wait until the time was right. And having sexual relations on the first day as new girlfriends was not the day. There was an unspoken sense that they would not be waiting long for the time to be right.
Tina: Bette darling, we have to get up. We both have appointments this morning and we cannot be late. The first of which is breakfast!
Bette: But I want to stay here in bed with my very naked and sexy girlfriend.
Tina: Owoo… I don’t want to get up either, but the world is expecting us to show up. So…
Bette: But I don’t want to.
Tina: Okay… you do what you want. I’m going to my room and get ready for my day. If you are not at breakfast, I’ll make some excuse for you.
Bette: Just say the magic word: menopause. That covers about everything.
Tina laughed: Well, you didn’t seem to be affected by menopause last night or this morning!
Bette: Tina, you are a miracle worker! Your touch cures all my ills!
Tina: Well, I doubt that. Thank goodness you do not have that many ills.
Bette: What kind of ills do I have?

Good chapter, you did answer a few things i questioned in my comment on chapter 13, still i think they are moving a little fast but on the other hand Bette told Tina she was committed to try again and it would only work if they are honest with each other and not afraid to hurt each other with what they are told and to listen carefully and work on it.
They are both determined to work on their relationship and I hope they will succeed.
What a great work opportunity for Bette, i can see why she is hesitant to have Helena as her boss but Tina pointed out some good things to alleviate those, she needs to have a conversation with Helena and must be clear about her concerns.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Peggy offers Tina the other job, she did love to work in the Social (Justice)work when she left Bette after she cheated on her.

As far as Bette and Tina moving too fast. Sex is a powerful drive particularly with these two. How do you say no, slow down when the woman you love more than you love yourself is in your bed and making moves on you? At that point, most people just go with the flow and deal with realities later.
This dinner is an important event in Bette and Tina’s relationship. They have agreed to pursue a reconciliation. They are not reconciled yet. Bette and Tina still have work to do, and I believe they recognize it. Being girlfriends is not reconciliation, and they know it. And attempting a reconciliation does not mean they will be successful, but they have agreed to give it whatever they have to make it work.
I believe you are getting the flow of this story very well. Peggy and Tina’s meeting is in the next chapter.

Thank you for giving me your thoughts on my comments. I think you have more readers than you think. I have tried to comment as much as i can since i came out as a silent reader years ago. Due to other things happening in life i still try to do that. It’s a way to simply let the writer to know you appreciate their effort and courage to post their story.

Oh my Tina, oh my Tina, I haven’t loved you ……
It’s lovely that once they ‘power dress’, they can still both blow each other’s minds. It seems they are so attracted to each other in every aspect.
I’m so glad Bette helped Tina at her flat, I think Tina needed her there for help and support more that she realised. It’s not easy removing your personal items on your own and just the thought of knowing Bette was with her helped her stay on track. I was wondering if Carrie would have been waiting for her after she has slept on the previous nights conversation…but thankfully she was not and Tina was able to get done all she wanted for her own closure.
Bette’s meeting with Peggy went well. I can’t say in surprised! Peggy and Bette’s relationship was always cemented in their love of Art and how Peggy, trusted Bette’s judgement on pieces. I am thinking the Social side will go to Tina ?? Peggy’s plan to have her family and staunchest allies, head up her foundation, is a master plan …. Who else would be better at the helm as Helena, Bette and Tina? I digress… but I’m sure more of that is to come in the next chapter’s
I’m glad Bette explained about hers and Tina, rekindling their love. Peggy has always been so supportive and proud of them both.
Tina’s meeting with Tom Smith was short and sweet! I felt a bit sorry for her although she was a huge assist to the industry and had amazing success with the company and series in Toronto, I think she was a bit floored by him not having anything in Los Angeles at the moment, which was suitable for her. She still has all her awards and the reputation of a phenomenal Executive Producer, which goes with them ….. and her renowned hard work in the industry ! Hopefully he will find something …. Unless she wants out of film and tv and moves into something else …. Social services perhaps!
I’m glad they decided to ditch the meal with the others and eat and talk alone. It was an emotional day in several ways and they needed to unwind and recoup. Tina is very supportive of Bette’s new offer and I agree Helena as Bette’s boss could be interesting but I think they have both grown and have respect for each other in their differing roles. I think they would actually compliment each other and work well together.
I see they ended their day as it started !! Sex and intimacy has always been a huge part of their relationship, it’s always beautiful written as well. So loving and pure somehow.
Can I just say, I loved how Tina described Bette as ‘attractive but unapproachable by the meek and timid.’ But Tina knew who she really was, the Bette only Tina ever saw.

The public persona had attracted Tina, but the private persona was the woman she fell in love with. “. What a picture this woman conjures up and it understandable why Tina loves her so much !

Tina fully expected that there would be nothing with Showtime when she decided to resign from her position. She is an award-winning producer and taking a non-production position would not work for long and most employers know that a step down the ladder usually never works.
At the dinner between Bette and Tina, Bette declares that she is all in for the attempt to reconcile. Tina has made enough actions to show Bette that her intentions are real. So, let’s see how this goes…
