Blisters in the Sun: Part 3

    I won’t laugh at you

    When you boo hoo hoo

    Coz I love you

    I can turn my back

    On the things you lack

    Coz I love you

I just like the things you do

Don’t you change the things you do…

The music pulsed around them, more treble than bass, but rhythmic enough to dance to freely.  The Stone Roses reminded Helena of the early 90s, of gaudy clothing and extravagance—a time when every married woman in London was a conquest.  Helena, then in the midst of a brief stint as a model—the ultimate in self-indulgence—moved through the scene like a windstorm. Divorce lawyers made their coin while the brief clinging of husbands, partners, girlfriends, all dissipated in the aftermath.  Lost in these memories, Helena sat in some, random, newly opened lesbian bar.  It was 2009, the summer of, it was damned hot, and her life was back to its original state of fantastic chaos.  Helena glanced over at Bette and Tina, dancing awkwardly to the music, taking their time on the dance floor as an excuse to get away from the boring executives now sitting beside Helena.  Helena was especially amused to note that the entire song list for the night had been Brit inspired.  She felt as though David Bowie might float through the door at any moment, followed perhaps by Madonna with her fake accent.

She smiled like a Cheshire cat, stretched out in her chair. A glass of $300 wine hung loosely from her fingers.  Helena glanced down at the white gold band on her right hand.  A rejected marriage proposal—deflected more like it—from a deliverer who knew damned well that Helena would say no.

Still, Dusty had given her the ring, on one knee, with a charming smile on her lips, her teeth flashing white against skin tanned beneath the same sun Helena had shared with her on a small sunny island, for months on end.

Six months had passed since her return.  Bette and Tina’s friends were speaking to them again, though this time, they were all decidedly cautious.  They hardly discussed Bette and Tina’s relationship, and they certainly didn’t celebrate it as the beacon of lesbian hope. But at least they were a dysfunctional family again.

    1. How hot was that. Helena in the pool with her jeans on.. You are making me wait for sex… I loved Helena mastubating….. Off to shower.. Cant wait till you update again…

    2. I’m still kicking myself that I didn’t mention you and a couple of other authors to Rachel Shelley. She might’ve dropped by to read some stories when she has a free moment.

    3. If only Helena HAD masturbated I might not be so inclined to call you a CHEAT. Clearly you knew that was coming (definitely not cuming), I’m beginning to think that you may have a bit of a masochistic streak to want to be called a cheat, to go along with your distinct sadistic streak in giving all 3 characters and your readers another case of blue balls, er, ovaries, something. And it makes me blue. That no one blew. You’re just plain mean.

    4. you see that hele… you’ve gone and turned funnyone all blue… how are we going to get those massages know… is she still rubbing her palms from before… hehe… cheat… cheat… cheat… yep… oh wait no… I love that last line… so perfect for these individuals who seem to change their minds like… yeah… that :P… hugs… JC

    5. “Stop you two”? Whaaa? Encouraging Helena to make embarrassing mewing noises instead of preventing them would’ve been a far more productive use for Tina’s newfound manic energy (does that mean she’s bipolar?). On a positive note, I couldn’t be happier that Bette has promised to keep her alarming U-hauling tendencies in check. No Pregnant Bette in S6, IC!

    6. you little sadist… how can you stop there. i would love to hear helena make mewing noises, hehe. so pps. i don’t want to distract you any longer so you can get back to your desk and write new chapter of your stories (an update for ligea’s poet or life happens or any other of your stories would be most welcome ;o)
