LONDON – Present day

Shane was devastated. Yet again her wife of six years and soul mate of nine years broke her heart again. Shane love Carmen, there is no doubt about it. Somewhere deep inside her heart says that they were never meant to be together, maybe in another world or another life time. Shane couldn’t take the heart ache that Carmen brings to her life anymore. She’s had enough of it, but then again she wants to make it work. She suddenly feels like those nine years that they spend together didn’t mean anything. Of course there’s Lily; the joy of Shane’s life.

Lily Vienna De La Pica McCutcheon; there isn’t a day goes by that Shane doesn’t say her daughter’s name. It just simply rolls off her tongue. Her daughter smile, laughter and everything about her just reminds her so much of Carmen. So much memory, happiness and sadness.

As Shane walks up to their second level of the apartment to get to her room, she stopped in front of her daughter’s room. She quietly opens the door and slid in into Lily’s room. Lily’s was sleeping on her bed soundly. Shane went to her daughter’s bed and sat next to her daughter slowly not wanting to wake her up. She took the framed picture on the bedside table. A picture of Shane and Carmen, and lily when she was only two years old. Carmen looking at the camera while Shane couldn’t take her eyes off of baby Lily. Shane stared at the picture with sadness. “What happened between us?” she thought. She put back the framed picture and looked at her daughter and gave her kiss on the forehead. Shane silently walks back out and heads to her bedroom. The bedroom is always like it is; the big king size bed, a book shelve on the right side of the wall and an office table at the corner where Shane sits and does her work. One thing that Shane loves about Carmen is how much of a clean – freak she is. If they hadn’t met there would still be clothes lying around the floor. Shane sits at the edge of her bed.
