Bette suddenly feels that she has entered the twilight zone. The nurses words repeat over and over in her head. Tina is going to be so happy, she is going to be so excited. As Bette follows the nurse down the hall she begins to think that this is just another one of her dreams. A sick joke. She figures she will wake up at any moment only to find herself back at the cabin. She continues to follow the nurse as they approach a room. The nurse enters the room as Bettes feet are suddenly unable to move.

Nurse: Well, you are never going to believe who I found wandering around in the hall.

Tina and Kit look at the nurse dumbfounded. The nurse turns around to see that Bette has stopped dead in her tracks just outside the door. She reaches out, grabs a hold of Bette and pulls her into the room. As soon as Tina sees Bette, she smiles that amazingly, loving smile, the smile that always seemed to melt Bettes heart. Bette can both see and feel the love flowing from Tina. She decides dream or no dream she was just going to go with this wonderful feeling.

Tina: Oh my God, Bette. I cant believe you are here. Youre really here. How did you know? I am so glad you made it. I thought you were going to miss our daughters birth.

Bette appears dazed as she processes Tinas words. She is glad Im here. She said our daughter. There is so much love in her eyes. Is it just love for the baby or is there still some love there for me? Does this mean we have a chance? Where is Helena? There is so much confusion going through Bettes mind that she almost forgets that Tina is in labor. That is until Tinas next contraction.

This was the most intense contraction yet. Tina grabs a hold of Kits hand with a death grip. Bette can see the pain in Tinas eyes as Kit helps her breathe through the contraction. Bette is surprised to see Kit here with Tina, but very glad as she seems to be helping Tina through the pain. Just then Dr. Wilson comes back in to check on Tinas progress. She looks around the room and sees Bette.

Dr. Wilson: Well, I am so glad you are here, Bette. Now maybe you can get that wife of yours to relax a little between her contractions. She has been so concerned about you missing out on the delivery that she has not been taking very good care of herself. She needs to save her strength.

Dr. Wilson gets ready to examine Tina as another intense contraction begins. Tina grabs onto Kits hand again. Tears flow down Bettes cheeks as she watches the love of her life in so much pain. As the contraction ends, Dr. Wilson examines Tina.

Dr. Wilson: Well now, Tina, arent you glad that we didnt try to slow things down? Everything is coming along just fine. Bette is here and you are dilated to 9 cm which means it wont be much longer before we get to introduce a precious little girl to her two mommies.

Dr. Wilson looks over at Bette, who is still somewhat standoffish and has yet to utter a word. It is as though fear has taken over her body. She wants to be able to help Tina, but she has no idea what to do. Dr. Wilson picks up on Bettes uneasiness and attempts to intervene.

Dr. Wilson: Well, Bette, looks like you made it just when you were needed the most. Tina is really going to need your help through the remainder of this delivery. Shes going to need your strength and support to get her through the toughest part. Her contractions from here on out are going to be longer and more intense. You need to help Kit work her through them. She needs your love and encouragement more than anything right now.

Kit picks up on what the good doctor is trying to do and follows her lead.

Kit: Baby Sis, come on over here and take a seat by your wife. She has been waiting for you to get here. I dont know how you pulled this one off, but I am so glad you are here.

Bette slowly walks over to Tinas bedside. She is still a little overwhelmed by everything. Kit gets up from the stool to let Bette sit down next to Tina. Kit doesnt go to far as she can see the uncertainty in Bettes eyes. She tries to lighten Bettes mood.


Kit: You might want to prepare yourself for the next contraction, Baby Sis. Tinas got one ***** of a grip there.

Tina had been so focused on the intensity of the contractions that she hadnt noticed that Bette was sitting next to her, holding her hand. She was just getting ready to say something when another contraction hit. She squeezed Bettes hand.

Bette: Oh *****!

Tina: Oh God, Baby. It hurts so bad. Please make it stop.

Tears are flowing from both Tina and Bette. Kit gets ready to step in and help Tina through the contraction, when Bette suddenly opens up. She had obviously been paying attention to Kit.

Bette: Shhh, Baby, its going to be okay. You just need to breathe. You are doing so good baby. I am so proud of you. Thats my girl, breathe through it. It will pass soon. Thats it, keep breathing. You are doing great, Baby, just great.

Bette reached over and wiped Tinas tears with her other hand. Kit sat back and watched in amazement as Bette calmed Tina and worked her through the contraction. There was so much love there between the two of them. Kit was so proud of Bette. Bette was so focused on making things easier for Tina that she quickly forgot the vise grip hold that Tina had on her hand. She just wanted to help make Tinas pain go away. As the contraction passed Tina and Bette were left staring into each others eyes. No words needed to be spoken. They could both feel the tremendous amount of love that was there. It was permeating throughout the entire room. Dr. Wilson was also in awe. She couldnt believe the strong connection that these two women seemed to share.

Dr. Wilson: Okay Tina, you are fully dilated. When your contractions start up again you are going to feel the urge to push. You may not feel the urge with every contraction, but when you do feel the urge I want you to push with all your strength.

When you dont feel the urge I want you to save your strength. Youll have a little more time in between contractions, but I want you to use that time to rest.

Bette looks back at Tina. She is so in love with this woman.

Bette: I am so proud of you, T. You are doing so good, Baby.

Tina: I am so glad you are here Bette. I couldnt have done this without you. Im so sorry for pushing you away, Baby. But, how did you know I was here? Where have you been? God, I have missed you so. Weve been waiting so long for you to come home.

Dr. Wilson: Okay, Ladies. You will have plenty of time to catch up after we take care of the pressing matter at hand. Remember Tina, you are suppose to be resting in between contractions, saving your strength, which you are going to need to deliver this little girl of yours.

Bette smiles at Tina and places a finger over her mouth to quiet her.

Bette: Shhh, Baby. Dr. Wilson is right. Nothing else matters right now except bringing our little girl into the world. We will get everything else worked out later. Just know that I love you, I am not going anywhere and I wouldnt have missed this for anything in the world.

Bette reached over and kissed Tina on the forehead as another contraction began. Tina now understood what Dr. Wilson had meant, when she said she would have the urge to push.

Dr. Wilson: Okay, Tina. Just go with the contraction. Take a deep breath and push. Thats it, bear down and push.

Dr. Wilson talked Tina through the contraction as Bette watched in wonder. She couldnt believe how strong and beautiful Tina was. Bette was beaming with pride. She couldnt believe she actually thought she could live without this woman. That she could just walk away from her and their daughter without a fight. Tinas contractions continue over the next 45 minutes as Bette and Dr. Wilson talk her through each and everyone. However, Tina was beginning to get extremely exhausted. Tina feels another contraction coming on.

Tina: Baby, I cant do this anymore. Im so tired. I just want to rest. Please make them stop. Please make them go away.

Bette looks over at Dr. Wilson with a silent plea for some help.

Dr. Wilson: Tina, you are doing great. You are so close. Youve just got a little further and your little girl will be here with you. You can do this, Tina. Just a couple more big pushes.

Bette: Baby, did you hear that? Listen to Dr. Wilson. We are almost there, T. I am so proud of you, Baby. You have been so strong through all of this. I love you so much, Baby. Our daughter is almost here. Dont give up now. Im right here with you, Baby. Come on and push, T. Push our little girl out so that we can meet her. I cant wait to see our beautiful little girl. I know you want to see her too.

Tina bears down and pushes with all the strength left in her.

Dr. Wilson: That was very good, Tina. You did so good, the baby is crowning. Now I need you to stop pushing for just a little bit, we need to bring the babys head out slowly. Okay?

Tina: You have got to be kidding me. I cant stop now, God I need to push.

Dr. Wilson: Just take a deep breath and blow it out Tina, no pushing. Breathe and blow out.

Tina: God, I cant do this. I need to push.

Bette: Shhh, T. Youre doing great. Breathe with me, Baby. Take a deep breath and blow it out. Thats the way. Come on Baby, keep breathing with me. You are doing so good, Baby. I love you so much. Thats it, blow it out. You are amazing, Baby. I cant believe you are doing this for us. I love you Baby, so much. Our little girl is almost here. Thats it, keep breathing with me, blow it out.

Dr. Wilson: Okay Tina, your little girl is doing fine. Now we just need a couple more big pushes and your little girl will be here.

Bette: Do you hear that, T. She is almost here, Baby. You are doing so good. Just a couple more pushes and our family will be together. You can do this, T. I cant believe how strong you are. I am so proud of you, Baby. A couple more pushes and it will be all over, Baby. You are so amazing, T. I love you so much. You can do this, Baby. We are almost there.

Tina bears down and gives one last push.

Dr. Wilson: Well, now. Look at what we have here and such a beautiful little girl.

Bette looks down at their beautiful little girl as tears flow down her cheeks. She cannot believe the enormous amount of love that she feels for this tiny, little being.

Bette: Oh my God, T. She is so tiny, so beautiful. God, T, you did it. She is here, Baby. She is really here.

Bette is so excited. She is overflowing with joy. Dr. Wilson cleans the baby up a little as she lets out a cry. She checks her all over and smiles. Tina hears the cry.

Tina: Oh my God, is that her? Is she okay?

Dr. Wilson: She is just fine, Tina. You have a perfect little girl. Bette, would you like to cut the cord?

Bette is smiling from ear to ear. She cant believe how happy she is. She reaches down and cuts the cord. Dr. Wilson then wraps up the crying baby and hands her over to Bette.

Dr. Wilson: Here you go mommy. You have waited long enough to hold this little one.

Bette takes the baby and holds her close. She has never had such a euphoric feeling in her entire life.

Bette: Hey, there precious little one. We are so glad you decided to join us. We have been waiting for you. We love you so much. There is someone else that is anxious to meet you.

Their little girl stops crying as Bette holds her close and talks to her so soothingly. Bette walks over to Tina and places the baby in her arms. Tears are flowing down Tinas cheeks too.

Tina: Oh my God, Bette. She is so beautiful. I cant believe how beautiful she is and she is so tiny. I am so happy, Baby. We finally have our family.

Bette: We sure do, Baby, we sure do. I love you so much, T.

Bette sat next to Tina on the bed, leaned in and wrapped her arms around her as they fawned over the baby, who seemed content just being in their arms.

Bette: My two most precious girls in the world. I am the luckiest woman in the world.

Bette looks over and sees Kit standing off to the side.

Bette: Hey, Auntie Kit. Get over here and meet your beautiful niece.

Kit had been standing back, just watching these three share such an intimate moment. She could see the enormous amount of love flowing amongst them. She was so happy for them. Kit walks over to the bed.

Bette: Isnt she just the cutest little girl you have ever seen?

Bette was bubbling over with happiness.

Kit: Why, of course she is. Why wouldnt she be? Just look at her two mommies.

Bette: Thank you so much for being here, Kit. Thank you for helping Tina through all of this. I dont know how I will ever repay you.

Kit: Im just glad that you are back home where you belong, Baby Sis. Dont you ever go running off like that again.

Bette looks at Tina and the baby with pure love overflowing from her heart.

Bette: Dont worry Kit. I am not going anywhere. My life is right here with these two precious gifts. I will never let either one of them down again. I love them both too much for that.

Tina: We love you too. Baby and we are so happy that you are home.

Bette: I know we have a lot of things to work through, T. But I promise you that I will do whatever it takes to get you to trust me again. I will do whatever is necessary to keep my family together. We will work through this together and we will be even stronger than we were before. I love you so much, T. I cant believe we finally have our family.

Bettes tears are flowing as she looks into Tinas eyes. Shes worried when she sees some discomfort reflecting back in Tinas.

Bette: Baby, are you okay? Is something wrong?

Tina: Everything if perfect, Baby, just perfect. Its just a small contraction.

Bette panics as she doesnt want to see Tina go through anymore pain. She looks at Dr. Wilson for an explanation.

Dr. Wilson: Everything is just fine, Bette. Tina will have a few small contractions while she delivers the placenta. It is completely normal. You have no need to worry. Why dont you give the baby back to the nurses so they can get her cleaned up and weighed, while Tina passes the afterbirth.

Bette and Tina reluctantly give up the baby. Bette stands up next to Tina while holding her hand. She brings it up to her mouth and places a soft and gentle kiss on the back of Tinas hand.

Bette: Dont worry, Baby. I am right here. I love you so much, Baby.

Tina just smiles at Bette. She can see the love and the concern in her eyes.

Tina: Its okay, Baby. These contractions are nothing compared to earlier. The worst is over. Bette felt a little more at ease, hearing this from Tina. She also hoped that the last four words she said would hold true. She knew they had a long road ahead of them, but she sure hoped the worst was over.

Tina delivered the placenta without a hitch and soon the nurses had the baby all cleaned up and back in the arms of her moms.

Kit: Well, I hate to break up this party, but I should really go and tell the girls the good news. They have been waiting down the hall forever. They are probably all going crazy.

Bette: Wait a minute Kit, let me.

Tina: Baby, are you sure you are up to that? I mean, they dont even know that you are here.

Bette: T, if it is okay with you, I would love nothing more to than to tell the rest of our family that our beautiful daughter has arrived. I wont be gone long, Baby. And if you are up to it, Ill bring them back so they can see our wonderful little miracle. But just a quick look, because you, my love, need your rest.

Bette reached down and kissed her daughter on the forehead and then kissed Tinas. Tina could see the love and the pride beaming from her. There was no way she could deny Bettes request.

Tina: Baby, if you are sure thats what you want to do. Just dont be gone for too long.

Bette: Dont worry T. They are just down the hall. Besides, nothing could keep me away from the two of you. I love you, Babe. Bette looks over at Kit.

Bette: Now Kit, you have to promise me that you will stay here with my two babies until I get back with the rest of the family.

Kit: You know Im not going anywhere, Baby Sis. Just dont keep your wife waiting too long. Shes been waiting for you long enough.

Tina smiled at Bettes words, until I get back with the rest of the family. There was not a truer statement to be made. Even after everything they had all been through, they would always be one big and hopefully happy family.
