    Bette Exposed Ch. 11

    Kit: Your home is here Bette. It will always be here. You know that.

    Bette: There are a lot of things I dont know anymore, but I am working on figuring them out. Look Kit, I really need to get going. I will be in touch. Thanks, Kit.

    And before Kit could say another word, the call was ended.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
    Kit was left speechless as Bette suddenly ended their conversation. She had wanted to get more information from Bette. She especially wanted to tell Bette that Tina loved her and was waiting for her to come home. Kit had so many things running through her head. She was glad that Bette had called, but at the same time she was pissed at Bette for not allowing her get a word in about Tina.
    Kit: Oh my God, Tina. I have to go talk to Tina.
    Kit knew Tina would be excited that Bette had called. Even though she hadnt got much out of Bette. She headed over to the house. Where she found Tina looking through old photographs.
    Kit: Hey Baby Girl, How are you doing today. I got some news.
    Tina was used to Kit just popping by so she didnt show much reaction, not noticing the excitement that seemed to be beaming from Kit.
    Tina: Oh, hey Kit. Whats up?
    Kit: Baby Girl, put those pictures away. I said Ive got news. I got a call today.
    Suddenly it hit Tina. Kit got a call, it must be the call, the one she has been so desperately waiting for.
    Tina: Oh my God Kit, Bette called, she really called.
    Kit: Thats right Baby Girl, she finally got her ***** around to letting me know she was okay. Can you believe she left is hanging for over 3 months, worrying about her sorry ***** for 3 months?
    Tina interrupts Kit, trying to get her back to the details of the call.
    Tina: Oh my God Kit, where is she? What did she say?
    Kit: Well, I didnt get a lot of information out of her. You know how stubborn she can be. She wouldnt tell me where she was, just that she needed time to get her life back together. She basically wanted to know if you had the baby yet and whether or not the two of you were okay. She wouldnt let me go into any details about anything or she threatened to end the call. One thing for sure she hadnt changed and that was still trying to control everything.
    Tina: Did she say anything about coming home.
    Kit: Now dont get upset Baby Girl, but did ask her that and she said she didnt know where home was anymore but that she was trying to figure that out.
    Tina was saddened by the answer. What if Bette was truly moving on? What if she had put their life behind her? What if she had met someone else? As if Kit could read Tinas mind she continued on about Bettes conversation.
    Kit: Tina, dont worry. Shes not with anyone else.
    Tina: How do you know that Kit. She has been gone for over three months now. She has had plenty of time to find someone.
    Kit: Tina, I specifically asked her if she was by herself and I believe her answer. That is the last thing on her mind right now. She is honestly just trying to get her life together so she can move forward. You and the baby, that was what was on her mind. That was her concern. She still loves you Tina, she just hasnt faced the fact that she cant let you go.
    Tina: God, Kit. How long do you think it is going to take her before she comes home?
    Kit: I wish I knew Baby Girl, I wish I knew. You know how she is. You know how she has to process every little detail.
    Tears begin to flow down Tinas cheeks.
    Tina: Shes going to miss out on the birth of our daughter isnt she Kit? Ive been hoping all this time that she would make it back to us in time, but shes not going to is she? Ive been waiting for her to get home to help with the nursery, so she could feel like a part of things. But she is not going to be here.
    Kit goes and wraps her arms around Tina.
    Kit: Baby Girl, we cant give up now. Shes making progress in her own way. We have to believe that she will get it all pulled together in time.
    Tina wanted to believe it, but she was having her doubts. Over the next week and a half she spent planning the nursery with Kit, Alice, Dana and Shane. She wasnt going to put it off any longer as her due date was fast approaching and she wanted everything to be ready. The girls had been a big help. They even done some painting. She couldnt believe how well the nursery had turned out. The stress of not hearing from Bette again was beginning to wear on her. Kit and the girls could see this and were keeping closer tabs on her now that she only had a week and a half left before her due date. Tina had taken a leave from the Center as she had just been to worn out lately. Her and Alice where making last minute touches on the nursery when all of the sudden the labor pains started.
    Meanwhile back to Bette after the call to Kit..
    Bette quickly ended the call as she was not wanting to have to answer any more of Kits questions. She had gotten the information she was wanting and was relieved to hear that Tina and the baby where okay. On the drive back to the cabin, Kits words kept running through her mind.
    Your home is here Bette. It will always be here.
    Bette needed to decide where her home was going to be. For the past seven years her home had been with Tina, with the hopes of a family that they would share one day. Now Helena had taken her place and Tina and her would soon be sharing what should have been her daughter, her family. That was the most difficult task at hand. Could she accept the fact that her daughter would be raised by someone like Helena Peabody? Would she be able to stay in LA and watch her family live a life with someone else? This was the final and the most difficult obstacle that she had to come to terms with and accept.
    She spent the next week and a half debating over whether to stay in LA and keep her job with the CAC or to just pack up and start fresh somewhere else without all the baggage. She weighed the pros and cons over and over and the bottom line always came down to Tina and the baby. It would be a tremendous challenge to stay knowing she would not be able to be a part of Tina and their babys life, to have to watch them from a distance, as an outsider looking in. But since when did Bette Porter every run from a challenge. It was at that very moment that she decided she was not going to run anywhere. Not only was she no longer going to run, but she was going to fight for her life back. She was going to go back to LA, back to her job, back to her family and friends. She would first find herself a place to rent and then she would begin the fight for her family. She would do whatever it took to show Tina how much she loved her any how much she wanted to have her and the baby back in her life. Helena ***** Peabody better hold on to her *****, because Bette Porter is coming back home.
    Bette packed her things and headed to the pay phone. She was going to call Kit to let her know she was on her way home and make sure that it was okay for her to stay with her for a few days. She finally felt as though the weight of the world had been lifted off her shoulders. She could feel happiness beginning to arise within her. God, how she had missed that feeling.
