    CHAPTER 17
Bette remained by her bedside for longer than usual that night. She had stopped talking a little while back and was just staring at the sleeping form in front of her. She still held her hand in hers.
She marvelled at the sleeping beauty in front of her. The whiteness of the sheets accentuated her pallor even more. Her skin seemed to have the fragility of fine porcelain and looked almost transparent. Little blue veins drew a complicated pattern on her eye lids.
By contrast, her lips looked very pink, although the air of the hospital had dried them a little.
She looked so fragile but yet so strong as she continued with her internal battle to stay alive.
Bette wondered what her eye colour would be. Surely blue. They had to be. She chuckled at her own assumption that the woman fitted the  description of the archetypal blonde beauty. Whatever her eye colour, Bette saw her as magnificence personified.
She realised that despite never having had a conversation or even exchanged a glance with her, the sleeping woman had made a great impact on her personal life. She liked the feeling it brought to her existence, a feeling she had thought had been lost a long time ago.
She sighed heavily and smiled at her broadly. She knew it would go unnoticed but she smiled none the less, she could not help but express her budding affection for the blonde.
She stood up from her uncomfortable seat and leaned over the bed. She  hesitated for a second, "Was it acceptable, was she entitled to do that?" she thought to herself. She shrugged her shoulders and carried on with her movement and pressed her lips to the sleeping woman’s forehead. At the very same time, a double bleep registered on one of the monitors in the rooms. "Oops," she thought "I must have disturbed one of the wires!" She looked around and saw that nothing was out of place.
"Goodnight T," she whispered into her hair. "I won’t see you tomorrow, I am just going out of town for a couple of days, I’ll come visit as soon as I’m back" she added.
And with those words, stopped to talk to the nurses on her way out and was soon on her way.

    3. Hmmmm, this is very intriguing. I was kinda hoping the Bette she met in her dream was the real Bette instead of the one who found her after the car accident. The way they met and immediately connected was so sweet.
