    At first sight

    CHAPTER 14
"Time of death 21.34" the doctor announced almost emphatically.
It was the harsh reality in the A&E departments of every hospital around the country. Someone would lose their fight for life and would become another statistic. The hardest part was now to inform the family and this was never an easy task. The doctor took a last look at the victim and nodded to the nurses to prepare the body for the family.
He walked out of the A&E cubicle towards the family’s waiting lounge.
Bette was walking along the corridors of the hospital when she spotted the A&E doctor. He had a solemn look on his face. She saw him stopping at the door of the family lounge, he took a deep breath put his hand on the door handle and walked in.
She felt sorry for the occupants of the room as by all indications the conversation this doctor was going to have with them was not going to be an easy one.
She carried on on her travels until she reached the room she was intending on visiting.
She stopped briefly at the door and opened it slowly almost reverently. The room was in semi-darkness, the only light was coming from the back wall light and illuminated a single hospital bed in which rested the person that she had come to see.
She walked closer to the foot of the bed and took a look at the frail figure which was lying in front of her. The sheets and blanket covered her up to her waist, her arms had been placed above them and were resting snuggly against her body. She was perfectly still apart from the slight movement of her chest rising and falling as she breathed quietly and regularly,  unaided.
Her blond hair had been carefully combed back to accommodate the bandage which covered part of her forehead and extended over her right temple. It protected a deep gash, the patient had sustained during the fall.
The room was quiet apart from the regular beep of a heart monitor which had been placed on the right hand side of the bed. Wires extended from the back of the machine and terminated underneath the front of the woman’s hospital gown. IV drips were secured in the top of her hands linked to  bags full of various coloured liquids hanging upside down above her head from hooks fastened to her bed. Those were keeping her hydrated and pain free.

    1. None of this looks good for Tina at all. She has lost her sight and now she has lost her new lover, Bette. Wow, if memory serves, I thought in the last chapter that Bette thought that she was falling in love with Tina and now we read she is thinking that she really LIKES her. What gives, did she all of a sudden determine that she likes her since she has fallen and injured herserlf. Spending less time with her than if she was a perfect stranger in her life, not someone that she had come to adore and spent a weekend making love with, not just having sex. What happened to Bette’s feelings? Will we get to read as Bette recalls how she found Tina lying bleeding and unconscious? Has Bette contacted Dana about the accident and why is Dana not there with her and why is Bette not spending more than a very few minutes with Tina. Hope we get some answers soon about all this cliffhanger scenario.

    2. Hey kins, What a great couple of chapters this weekend. Firstly of all Tina and Bette calm things down and then agree to move forward together. Their souls entwined forever. This was a thing of beauty. Then the shock of Tina’s fall. My heart and breath stopped by the “Thud” of Tina hitting the steps and passing out. Such drama. thank goodness for the second post. Tina is alive yet in a state of suspended animation. The fall has put her into a coma. I cried at Bette’s pain; finally meeting the woman of her dreams to have her whisked away the day after they made such sweet adn tender love. There is still hope. Perhaps this sercond injury may kicke start Tina’s sight. I can’t wait to read more so am ever hopeful of a new chapter. Kins, you have filled this drama with such evocative emotions. I truly adore it all. Many thanks frmo Your Loyal Fan.
