Art of Love – Chpt 15

    Previously

“I have an idea,” she whispered, “to get your mother’s sculpture back. It involves a sacrifice of the greatest magnitude, but I hope you’ll understand. I’m doing this because I love you. And your mother.”

    “But, Bette?”

“Please, Sweetheart, let me do this,” Bette looked at me imploringly.

    “Well, I…”

“Please, Helena! Go on ahead and wait for me in our bedroom. Please,” she begged. “Just trust me. Trust that I love you.”

“Alright,” I said, unable to say ‘no’ to those beautiful, beseeching brown eyes.

Bette kissed me sweetly and I went and sat on our bed. And waited.

    Chapter 15

When I went back to the dining room, Barbara was sipping her wine.

“Where’s your beautiful Helena?” she asked, smiling as she placed her glass on the table.

“In our bedroom,” I answered, holding out my arm with the invitation to follow me. “She’s waiting for us.”

“Oh?” the Senator replied, standing.  “For what purpose? To finally show me her painting that was displayed at the Pince Gallery opening?”

    “That’s right,” I said, smiling.

Barbara laughed as if she didn’t entirely believe, or want to believe, that was my only intent in inviting her to our bedroom.

“How exciting,” she replied, skirting the corner of the table as she approached me. “Where’s Helena’s mother?”

“I don’t know exactly.” I glanced in the direction Peggy had headed.

“Do you expect her reappearance anytime in the near future?” Barbara inquired.

“It’s hard to say with Peggy,” I replied honestly. “One never knows what she’ll do. She can be extremely hard to figure sometimes.”

“I can only imagine,” Barbara smiled, upon reaching me. “I don’t think she cares much for me.”

“Are you ready to see Helena’s painting?” I said, turning to begin our walk towards the bedroom and ignoring her remark about Peggy’s feelings towards her.

“Lead the way,” Barbara replied, following me. “I’m more than anxious.”

We walked silently to the bedroom. When we arrived at the doorway, Barbara and I found Helena sitting at the foot of the bed. She was staring at the painting she’d given me for our first weekaversary. She looked up at us. I noticed her eyes were misted over.

    1. lol…loved it Zheese. Barbara didn’t know what hit her. She went from a possible threesome to a possible painting to a possible sculpture to a sure ride home…lol

    2. “Now, Jose is waiting just outside the doorway to escort your heinous ass off my daughter’s property,” Peggy said stepping out of Barbara’s path. – Wooooooooo Hoooooooooo!! I’m glad also that Babs got her just deserts too. Previously I had said that Bette needed to stay out of this – it was between Peggy and Barbara. I have to digress – you did Bette proud!………. Sky, you’re comment says it BEST!

    3. I liked the way you so skillfully put “Barbara the Barracuda” and I LOLed when you typed, “My Dear, you should know barracudas have no manners and don’t wait for Mummies to leave.” You’re just so skillful in your writing! I’m amazed! Truly! :D

    4. Does Peggy and Bette screwing Barbara count as a threesome? If so, the Senator got her wish of getting some action from Porter and Peabody, just not the Peabody she was aiming for, nor in the manner she wanted. I guess we can chalk this one up to the old adage “be careful what you wish for, you just might get it”.
