    Angie’s happiest Mother’s Day … ever

Bette and Tina had always spent Mother’s Day together with Angie even before she knew the meaning of the day. They would normally include Alice in the celebration as the Earth Mother and would usually get together for Sunday brunch with the rest of the group. Bette and Tina would exchange token gifts and each would shop with Angie for the other.

This year was extra special for obvious reasons. It was the first time in her short life that Angie ever woke up on Mother’s Day to find both her mommies in the same bed. She had learned to knock on the bedroom door before entering but this morning they were expecting her so they had showered after their night of lovemaking and each had dressed in comfortable pajama pants and tank tops for sleep.

Once Angie started preschool and kindergarten she’d made the obligatory homemade Mother’s Day cards at school and her teachers were sensitive to the fact that her parents were separated so she always made two; one for each of her moms. However this year she made one card for both of them and she also gave them a beautifully framed picture of the three of them that Liz had taken when they were in Monterey.

Bette had shared her photos of the Monterey trip as a slide show during one of their family gatherings and she mentioned that Liz had taken some also that they hadn’t had a chance to see yet. Alice contacted Liz and had her send one of her pictures that neither Bette nor Tina had seen before so she and Angie could surprise them with the gift. They loved it. The photo perfectly captured the love between the two women and the shared love for their daughter. They placed the framed photo in their bedroom where they could look at it every day.

The frame was made out of a beautiful natural oak finish and was inscribed: “A mother’s love is like a rose, always blooming, forever caring, always giving, and always sharing.” Angie and Alice had looked at getting Bette and Tina matching mother/daughter necklaces but they had noticed that Bette and Tina always wore their “Shared Heart” necklaces so they decided on the picture frame instead.
