“His bag didn’t inflate “
“Why?”
The Doctor shrugged “The police will no doubt be investigating “
“How is he?”
“I saw him when he came in – not looking good “
Bette shuddered – she was going to have to break all this to their kids – her watch told her 1am – she would have to drive back home by 7 – get a shower and see them. How to do it? There was no doubt in her mind that she had to be the one who told Tina and Ollie’s daughters – hell that was going to be so painful for everyone. Maybe if Shane was there and Dana.
Bette looked at the Doctor
“When can I see her?”
“She is in room “
“So I can see her?”
“Yes – you might be able to help her – as far as we can tell she is unconscious “
“Not a coma?”
“No – sort of like a deep sleep – it won’t last longer than 24 hours – if that – her brain waves patterns do not indicate a coma or brain damage “
He stood up “You might not think it given that she is unconscious but she was very lucky – the car is pretty much a write off. Go and sit with her – she is in room 159 “
Bette nodded as he walked away. She sat for a few minutes before going back to Jodie and Helena – they were both awake
“He thinks that she is going to be alright – she is still unconscious but he doesn’t seem to thing that it’s serious – just a matter of time before she wakes up “
Bette took in her own words – just a matter of time before she wakes up – he doesn’t seem to think that it’s serious. Helena realised what was happening just in time – she moved forward and took Bette in her arms just as she let out a huge sob.
“Its going to be okay “Helena reassured Bette “She’s going to be fine – its okay Bette – its okay “
Bette held onto Helena for all she was worth – she needed to feel that the love of her life was going to be safe. There had been so many memories of the past that had been re-awaken by this nightmare. Emily lying on a cold slab – her face all scratched and bruised – they would only let her see the face – they said that the rest was too bad. Bette had spent months after her wife’s death wondering just what injuries her lover had sustained – so many questions unanswered. So many questions unanswered allowing her mind to fill the void with terrible replies. Every medical show had indulged Bette’s macabre need to speculate on what injuries Emily had sustained.
And now Tina – the beautiful blonde with the soft North Carolina accent and winning smile. Tina – the woman who had taught her to fall in love again when her heart had forgotten how. Bette sobbed – the words still playing in her head
He doesn’t seem to think that it’s serious
Just a matter of time before she wakes up –
Not serious – she will wake up
Helena stroked Bette back trying to comfort her – trying to help her feel better
“Why don’t you go and see her? “ Jodie touched Bette. Bette looked round and hugged Jodie
“Its okay Bette – she loves you “Jodie said
Bette looked at Jodie
“I love her so much “
Jodie nodded “I know “she signed “we all know and Tina knows “
Bette looked at both of her friends “How am I going to tell her daughters that dad might not live and Tina is unconscious? – How am I going to be there for them as well as for Tina? “
Helena stroked Bette’s face “Don’t worry -leave the kids to us – there are enough of us. Shane has already texted to say that she’ll take however much time off work as she can to help with the kids. Alice is round with Lara now “
“Is Nicky okay with the girls? “
“They are sleeping at the moment. Shane is willing to be there when you tell the girls “
“God – what do I say?”
“You will know “Jodie signed “It is in your heart “
Bette nodded “You two should go and get some sleep “
Helena shook her head “We’ve talked – I’m staying here- Jodie is going back to sleep but she will be here in the morning so I can get some sleep – you need to sleep as well “
Bette shook her head “I will sleep when she’s awake and I know that I have my Tina back “

I’m feeling a little better for Bette but my heart goes out to Paul. I hope they are ALL well in the end.
I actually hope Ollie doesn’t die because I like Paul so much. I hope Tina is OK when she wakes up. Maybe it will be a good wake up call for her.

Ok, don’t leave us hanging too long. Ollie’s been a shit, but we don’t want to lose him. I’m scared to think that Tina might have been drinking and that’s what caused the accident. Put us out of our misery, you drama queen you!! PPS

I am so glad Tina wasn’t drunk driving and she will be ok. Tina’s poor girls mom hurt dad probably going to die. Bette will be there for them and maybe Tina will find the strength to stay on top of the on going fight with alcoholism. I feel bad enough for Ollie to hope that he pulls through this. PPS
OK ally, Ollie is a jerk but he’s nice foil for the story. Make it a long and painful recovery so he appreciates his life but don’t kill him. He is the girls’ Dad. Don’t be so heartless.
Wow… didn’t see that coming he he… I was certain that your “payback” was gonna be on the L wing. I agree with many of the guys here that I dislike Ollie but never at the level of wishing for his death. Honestly I think Ollie will survive but he’ll be handicap or something like that… and Tina, well I guess you’re very aware that your story will “jump the shark” if you let her die. Great chapter Ally… waiting for the next post
why oh why wasn’t Ollie wearing his seat belt? why do I fear this will be something that haunts Tina? Why because Ally is the mistress of drama and the queen of cliff hangers – that’s why.
Hello ally, that was heartbreaking, and yet there is a little silver lining. Families have to go through some of the most trying of times and you have absolutely captured the emotions that come with this. This story really hit me hard as I have lost some of the most important people in my life to this same thing, it really brings up some very raw emotions in me and I want to thank you, we all need a way to remember the things we lost and the things we gain from those loses and I think that no matter what happens this family will be strong, thank you for such a wonderful chapter and I cannot wait to see where you go with this story… I could read this forever and ever… you are brilliant. On the edge of my seat as always Ally! Great job! Now just to make sure…Tina didn’t i don’t know turn off Ollie’s air bag did she? Or worse yet, HE didn’t drug her and like kidnap her or anything did her? DId they do a drug screen test??!! OK OK calming down…Tina better wake up quick! Thanks!
I bet Paul thinks you’re a meanie. And Bette, too, making her go through another love in a car crash. Bette just needs to be honest with the kids and keep it simple.
Hey Ally, Thank you for posting this new shapter. The last cliff hanger had me n the edge of my seat. Now is a time to support Tina and hopefully Ollie. Things are bleak right now but the human spirit is a wonderful and strong force then can survive the most heinous of injuries. I do hope that Ollie makes it through as his kids need their father. This accident just goes to show how fickle life can be as Ollie hoovers at death’s door while Tina’s body has chosen to rest and recuperate on its own. It would have been awful for Bette to have lost Tina so soon after finding love again. Their love transends all earthly bounds however their bodies need the physical replenishment of touch, taste, smell, sound and sight. Helena and Jody were true friends offering what little support and comfort they can during this traumatic time. Now I want Bette to get herself along the corrider to Tina’s room and tell her exactly how she feels about her. The good and the bad. This is a time to lay all your cards on the time and roll the dice. Perhaps Bette’s dulcet tones will register in Tina’s head and bring her back to consciousness. Ally, thank you for this dramatic turn of events. Just proves that you have to grab every single moment and make the best of it. Now surely Bette will propose and demonstrate her undying love and committment to Tina. I can’t wait to follow that journey that you put in motion. Many many thanks From Your Loyal Fan.

AllyE, you are the true drama Queen. Never thought of this happening. Surely you will let Tina be Ok, won’t you. Ollie is a shithead but we just want him out of her life, not dead. Poor Paul. I would not want to be Bette right now. Surely, as soon as Bette goes to Tina and touches her or lies down and holds her she will wake up. Oh man. We know you won’t let Tina die because then that would be the end of the world. lol But Ollie? Yeah he’s a shit but I wouldn’t want him to die. Good thing that Tina’s father suggested she make Bette her next of kin otherwise Bette would have to sit there all night clueless.

Phew, what a relief that it looks like Tina will be okay, just some bruises. But what about her kids? For their sake I hope Ollie pulls through surgery okay. Just as things were going good for Bette this disaster had to happen. At least it happened after she had repaired the minor riff she had w/ Helena over Tina’s drinking. Bette and Tina are both going to need the support of all of their friends and family to get through this difficult time. Bette seem to be handling thinks okay now, but what happens if Tina doesn’t wake up right away. How will her memories of Emily’s accident effect her then? PPS!
