After The Storm
Bette looked at Tina like she had lost her mind “Do you really think I’m going to let you go through this on your own? I’m going to be there every step of the way” she said looking at the blonde who was sitting next to her on the couch in her living room, hugging her knees to her chest.
“I’m going with you”
“No you’re not”
“Why?” the brunette asked, raising her eyebrows, challenging Tina to give her a good explanation to why she couldn’t come to the doctor’s appointment with her.
“It’s just unnecessary for you to take off work for that, it will just be a short meeting and I will be fine going on my own. Really” Tina answered.
“I’m going” Bette said as she reached for the TV remote and turned the TV on, flipping through channels trying to find something to watch. She glanced over at her best friend. To anyone else Tina would seem fine but Bette could see how worried and scared she was. She reached over and put her hand on Tina’s thigh getting the blonde to look at her.
“Is there anything special you want to watch?” she asked, nodding towards the TV.
“No I don’t care, you choose” Tina gave her a small smile.
Bette kept her hand on the blonde’s thigh as she flipped through the channels and landed on an episode of the Big Bang Theory. She put the remote down before moving closer to Tina.
“I love you” she said giving the blonde’s thigh a gentle squeeze.
“I love you too” Tina smiled, resting her head on Bette’s shoulder.
They sat quiet for a while, both had their eyes on the TV but neither was paying attention to it. They were both lost in their thoughts, thinking about the future and how it would pan out.
“T?” Bette asked, breaking the silence.
“Yeah?”
“When are you planning to tell your parents?”
“I’m not”
“What?” the brunette asked, turning her body slightly so she could look at the blonde.
“I’m not telling them” Tina answered, keeping her eyes on the TV.
“I think you should tell them, they should know what’s going on”
“I don’t want to” Tina said, getting a bit irritated at her friend “I don’t want to worry them”

Oh Tina, I know exactly what you’re going through, but opt for the reconstruction and tell your parents. Good for Bette for sticking with her. Thanks for the update.
It’s a hard topic to write but you are doing a great job. Thank you
Interesting, well written..please keep going..
My mom died of breast cancer. This is hard to read but i know u will make tina a fighter and she will survive. The feelings that u r describing is so real that i think u know someone who went thru this.pps
Great chapter. I feel sorry for Tina, she really needs to let her parents know whats going on and let the doctor schedule the restructing. Thanks for posting.
WOW this is really hard for Tina….I can’t even imagine how she is feeling
Unfortunately, it’s becoming increasingly uncommon to not be affected in some way by cancer nowadays. I’m interested to see how Tina and Bette handle this. Maybe Bette will be able to convince Tina to let her parents know. Thanks for the post, pokerface.
I like the story – well written with an interesting premise. I will cautiously keep reading. (I only say that because I tend to avoid fiction of the ‘tragic’ variety. There’s enough mayhem in real life, I try to keep my casual reading to the lighthearted variety.) I look forward to more!
Very hard subject. I am very confident about the way you’ll write this story. Great writing.
Heavy stuff. Tanks for the update
OMG.Breast cancer….PPS
