    Tina – I’m not here! Kathy answers the phone. Kathy – Hello, Tina Kennard’s office. (pause) … Oh, yes … uh … just a second. She places her hand on the receiver and whispers. Kathy – Bette Porter … Tina – I’ll take it! Kathy doesn’t leave the room and proceeds to collect the transcripts from her desk. Tina – Hey!

    Tina – I’m not here!

    Kathy answers the phone.

    Kathy – Hello, Tina Kennard’s office. (pause) … Oh, yes … uh … just a second.

    She places her hand on the receiver and whispers.

    Kathy – Bette Porter …

    Tina – I’ll take it!

    Kathy doesn’t leave the room and proceeds to collect the transcripts from her desk.

    Tina – Hey!

    Bette – Room 302. I had to pay for an extra night to get the room so early.

    The blonde presses her lips together to contain a grin.

    Tina – OK.

    Bette – I ordered a couple of chicken salads for us.

    Tina – No warm food?

    Bette – I don’t want interruptions.

    Tina sighs and glances at her assistant.

    Tina – I understand.

    Bette – Is she there?

    Tina – Uh-huh.

    The brunette smiles mischievously.  

    Bette – I want to kiss you from head to toe, you know?

    Tina – I look forward to it.

    Bette – I want to lick you until you cry my name.

    The blonde closes her eyes and sighs, self-conscious of Kathy’s presence.

    Tina – Yes … I agree.

    Bette – I’ll be looking at you when you come in my mouth.

    Tina’s eyes sparkle.

    Tina – I hope so …

    Bette laughs.

    Bette – Hurry!

    Tina – OK.

    The producer hangs up, looking flustered. She turns around and leaves in a hurry.

    Tina – Bye, Kathy!

    Kathy – Bye, Tina!

    Kathy smiles, shaking her head when her boss leaves.

     

    Chapter 22  Honeymooners

    Malibu Beach Inn lobby, noon: Tina enters the elegant lobby carrying her purse and a small bag in her hand. She makes her way to the elevator, not noticing that Bette is sitting on the couch waiting for her.

    The brunette watches her girlfriend with a sly smile. She follows the blonde to the elevator and positions herself behind her, speaking in a lustful voice.

    Bette – I love the way your hips move.

    The producer jumps startled and looks at the attendant behind the counter. She does not turn to Bette and replies in a whisper of a voice.

    Tina – I thought you would be upstairs.

    The gallery owner smirks and glances at the attendant before speaking.

    Bette – I needed to make sure you’d find the room.

    The elevator door opens and they step in, standing in opposite sides of the car, staring at each other.
