Chapter 89

“Good Tina..that’s it…push again!” Dr. Wilson continued to encoursge Tina to not give up. “It’s all going to be over soon…one of the babies is crowning. PUSH!”

Tina pushed again. “OH GOD THIS HURTS SO BAD! Bette – where is Bette.?”

I’m right here Sweetie.” Bette had been there the entire time – Tina must have forgotten thst she was.
She grabbed Tina’s hand and brought it up to her mouth and kissed it. “It’ll be over soon Sweetie – really soon.”

“Ok Tina – I need you to push again.” Dr. Wilson looked at Bette. It was a look that was intended to encourage Bette to plead with Tina to keep going..

“Ok – Baby – push….you can do it. I know you can….push.” Bette fought back tears as she said the words. She herself was almost ready to beg Dr. Wilson to do a C-section. It was getting more and more difficult to see Tina in so much pain.

Tina gave it her all – she pushed hard. She cried out in pain – tears streaming down her cheeks. “Bette – please – I can’t do this any more – I can’t.”

“Yes you can T – you have to – you have to…..” Bette heard herself say the words – she knew they were necessary to say – but – it hurt to say them. “Tina…I’m so proud of you….keep going please…for Dylan and Taylor.”

Dr. Wilson spoke again. “Ok Tina – one more big push and we’ll have this one. Tina – PUSH!”

Tina pushed again. Bette looked at her as she did wondering where she got the energy to do it again.

Tina cried out in pain as the first baby came into the world.

Dr. Wilson smiled and said. “Here’s your little girl! She’s beautiful!” Dr. Wilson held a crying Taylor up for Bette and Tina to see.

“Oh my God Tina…look at our little girl…she’s beautiful…just like her mommy!” Bette kissed Tina on the forehead.

Dr. Wilson motioned for Bette to come over and cut the umbilical cord. Bette did the honors and didn’t pass out – she didn’t even feel the urge to throw up!!! She took another quick look at Taylor before she was taken away to be cleaned, weighed and examined Bette hurried back over to Tina’s side.

“Ok Tina – your little boy is waiting. A couple of really good pushes and we should be there. PUSH!”

Seeing Taylor gave Tina a burst of energy. Now she was determined to bring Dylan into the world – and she wanted him to come into the world -NOW!

Tina pushed hard. She was still crying. Bette held her hand.

“Ok Tina …one more…just one more should do it PUSH Tina – push hard.”

Tina squeezed Bette’s hand HARD! Bette thought she’d die….Tina pushed again – bringing little Dylan into the world.

“And we have a little boy! Very handsome!” Dr. Wilson smiled as she lifted a crying Dylan up for Bette and Tina to see.

“Bette – look at him….he’s so precious….Oh my God….Baby….they’re here – they’re finally here.” Tina began sobbing. Bette leaned down and looked into Tina’s red , puffy, tired eyes. She began crying too She kissed Tina and whispered. “Thank you Baby….thank you…I love you so much Tina!”

“Bette?’ It was Dr. Wilson. “Would you like to do the honors again?” Bette left Tina’s side to go cut Dylan’s cord. She looked at him before they took him away. “So cute!” She went back to Tina’s side.

“Tina – we have our family – we finally have our family!” Bette smiled through her tears.

“Bette – I’m sorry I was nasty to you…did I break your hand?”

“Maybe – I think I need to have it looked at later.” Bette smiled at Tina again. “Who cares – it’ll heal.”

“Ah..Baby I’m sorry – maybe we can get you some ice.”

“T – it doesn’t matter – you did it!!!! I’m so proud of you….you were amazing. You sure made a couple of beautiful little babies! God – I love you. I love you more now than I did before. Is that even possible T? I mean – I just adore you. I can’t describe how I’m feeling right now. This was the most awesome thing I’ve ever experienced. And it’s all due to you….thank you so much for doing this for us Baby….I love you so much….” Bette kissed Tina. “Aren’t you going to push me away T?”

“Stop it – I’m sorry if I was a *****. Please believe me when I tell you that I love you Baby! I love you so much…and I trust you – I guess that’s why you were the target of my wrath…You were wonderful through the entire thing Babe. You were great – perfect. I really hope I didn’t break your hand!”

Tina was moved to a private room – Bette had requested the room. She really wanted to spend time alone with her new family. Jackie was in the room waiting for them. When Tina was settled into her bed, Jackie walked over to her and kissed her on the forehead. “Beautiful job little girl….I love you. The babies are so cute. I can’t believe I’m officially a grandmother.” Jackie gave Tina another kiss on the forehead and then walked over to Bette. “Sunshine – I love you….you know that right?”

“Yeah mom I know you do. I love you too.” Bette began crying again. Jackie wrapped her arms around her and held her.

Jackie whispered into Bette’s ear. “Sunshine – you have a beautiful family. And I want to tell you how wonderful you were during all of this….you were amazing. No wonder my little girl loves you so much….I’m going to go home now and let you be alone. I’ll come back in the morning. You get some rest.”

“Ok mom – thank you – thank you for being there for me. I couldn’t have done it without you.” Bette gave Jackie a kiss.

After giving Tina a final hug and a kiss Jackie left.

Bette took a quick trip to the bathroom and returned decked out in clean sweats and a t-shirt. Tina had dozed off while she was changing. Bette quietly crawled into bed with Tina. She snuggled up with her – wrapping her arms around her. Bette smiled as Tina cuddled with her – resting her head on her. Tina cried softly into Bette’s chest. Bette held her – she didn’t say a word – she just held her. Bette let out a heavy sigh – it was a sigh of relief. A feeling of calmness came over her – she was content – for the first time in her life she had it all – everything she ever wanted – a beautiful family. And she had two gorgeous children – a gift from the woman she loved – a gift from the woman she would spend the rest of her life with.
