A Long Walk – 2
"I thought you were engaged to some guy."
"Helena would like to argue that point."
Bette practically tripped on a crack in the sidewalk. She recovered quickly. "Helena?"
Tina glanced at her, concerned. "Are you okay?"
"Why?"
"I saw your near-trip there."
Bette shrugged off the concern, focusing on one matter: "Helena. Peabody. You’re dating Helena Peabody?"
"You know of another?" Tina stopped, and looked at Bette in mock horror. "You’re not dating her too, are you?"
Bette sent her a scathing look. "Funny."
Tina laughed. "Don’t look so horrified. Yes, Helena Peabody is once again my girlfriend."
Bette struggled to comprehend. "How long have you been dating Helena?"
"On and off. A little over a year."
"A year–" Bette paused. "When were you engaged?"
"Almost two years ago."
"And you never thought to bring up that you were dating Helena."
"Nobody asked."
"Does Alice know?"
"No."
"How come?"
"Nobody asked! I guess people assumed that since Helena and I were spending a lot of time together anyway, that we were still just friends."
"But…" Bette tried desperately to wrap her brain around this information. "You and Hellific."
"Yes."
"I thought you’d dedicated yourself to the heterosexual persuasion."
"Well, to borrow from the idiot Josh Becker, maybe I just needed pussy again."
"You use that word ridiculously freely, T."
"Cunt lost some flavor when people call each other that all the time."
"Welcome to jolly ol’ England."
"Cheerio." Tina said dryly.
Bette grinned.
"Here we are," Tina looked up, opening the door to the café. She took a deep breath, enjoying the smell of ground coffee. "My third favorite smell."
"What’s first and second?"
"First is Angelica." Tina replied. "Second is –"
"Pussy," Bette finished for her. "You’re really enjoying this return to homosexuality, T."
"It’s so much fun to be so irreverent." Tina grinned.
"You were pretty intent on being conventional," Bette pointed out, as she followed Tina to an empty booth.
"Yeah, thankfully the lobotomy had an expiration date," Tina quipped.
Bette looked at her.

I still can’t believe Tina is with Helena again? Is it kind of camouflage thing?
Tina is on a fishing trip and the bait is Angelica and the fish to be caught is Bette “Sexy As Hell, Knock’em Dead” Porter. Tina wants to be the one Bette comes home to again. All is right with the world. Let it happen, please.
Why do I feel like Tina’s got something up her sleeve?
Delightful. I love it :)
God, your good. Bette, please say no. Come on Tina tell her your miss her, and let go of Helena. More please.
You’re so sly…Funny story, and fun, too. Keep up the good work.
Well, Dainty beat me to it. Tina is so on a fishing trip. And now, Bette would arch an eyebrow at her and smirk…LOL!! Once again, love the banter between them. At least they’re friends. Sigh! But hey, gotta start…um, restart somewhere, right?! Looking forward to the next one.
Helena ain’t cuttin’ it, is she? Ha ha ha ha. It’s STILL the American Century!
I’m in awe of your writing. Kudos :-)
wonderful, as always.
Would definately love to see another one of your posts, soon!!!
absolutely delightful! now i can sleep in peace. i was getting a little depressed after reading lastkid’s exquisitely painful chapter. hmm.. wonder whether this thing with helena is just tina’s fib to protect herself??? lol at the grudge reference:) thanks!
I’m liking where I think this is going….great stuff, gentle, wistful amd maybe hopeful???? looking forward to your next instalment soon please.
This is a great story…well except for the engaged to helena part.
I think Tina would like Bette to come to NY and stay for longer than a week, namely like forever… I love it.
that was great. that grudge 2 comment was funny as hell. Tina seems so free in this story. I hope to see Tina try to win Bette back instead of the other way around.
Tina’s dating women….AGAIN!? and she didn’t consider get back with Bette? alas…well..thanks for the writing
woohoo~ still love your post the best.
A fun read. Always sharp, well written and flowing – how do you come up with this stuff? You must be a popular dinner guest.
“This cake’s good.””I know. Give it back.” LOL at that and the grudge refrence.. Oh I can never have enough of your writing.. I don’t care if Tina wants to get back with Bette or not.. As long as they are being civil to one another, I’ll be reading..
have I mentioned how happy you make me? Write any story…I will be waiting for it to post
you go Tina and get your woman back!!! This is when Bette answers ‘no’, Tina says ‘hmmmm’ then Bette goes to Angie’s first week at school and then bammm! B&T together! Post soon please!!!
betty needs to read the signals in front of her and not be blind like she used to be i love the post i love tina in this new playfull way
Your writing is so delighful! Why can’t tina be like this on the show! The banter bewteen the two is great. I am on the fence about them hooking up. You know last night I watched before sunset and though of this story as you said it inspired you to write this. So I am wondering if you plan to have the same ending as well?? Anyways post soon!
Okay so how serious are Tina and Helena – exactly? I heart Bette and Tina.
This is good….
Fantastic!
Tiff Duke I love you writings because you eventually work the ladies back together. I never cared for the Bette and Helena mix and I definately do not care for the Tina and Helena mix. Nothing agains Helena just not with the ladies. Even with my distaste of Tina’s mate, I do love the story and especially your wtiting skills. Also thanks for continuing Chandelier.
This is good and like it. This is seem Tina want to get back with Bette again beacuse she asked Bette if she was seeing anyone. OK post soon please, thanks!
incredible! incredible! i like it so much! Tina definitly wants to be the someone Bette is dating! i hope so too!
fantastic! you keep me sitting on the edge whenever i’m reading your dialogue. and i’ll always hope the end of the chapter doesnt come so soon. please post soon :)
Just keep writing about Bette and Tina. Tina asked Bette twice if she was seeing anyone, Maybe Tina would like to be that someone again thanks
“You know I’d rather have rectal cancer than sit through that crap.””So says the woman who watched The Grudge Two.” LMAO! I can’t tell you enough how much I enjoy the way you write dialogue for these two whether it’s serious discussion or witty banter.
never enuff of ur writing tiffy
bette, please say NO and then tina can dump helena and they’ll get back together…it’s nice to see them at ease with each other, joking and stuff but love is still there, they just need to get back to that point…as usual love your dialogs
This is so damn good….
