    A little R&R

As I sat in the back of the stretch limousine enroute to the airport, my thoughts drifted back to time in my life when things were much simpler. In my career, I had wanted it all, and that’s what I now had. I wanted to be the go to person, the lead on the top projects. Now that I had attained that, all I wanted was a quiet peaceful weekend with no cell phones, no laptop computer, no last minute catastrophe’s to avert, while the success or failure of a project hinged on a few critical decisions. A casual comfortable Saturday evening at home, curled up in front of the TV watching the ball game, a scotch, two fingers, neat in hand had been ruined by the latest of these phone calls.

So here I was, late one October Saturday evening, headed to New York to pacify a client and once more save the day. It would be an all night flight from LAX to LaGuardia and an early morning breakfast meeting with the client to hopefully avert the impending disaster, and the delay in the project that would cost each party a lot of money.

I arrived in New York early the next morning on time and found a car and driver waiting with orders to take me directly to the designated meeting place. Once again I found myself sitting in the back seat of yet another Limo. As the car made its way through the streets of New York, I suddenly realized that we were not headed in the direction of the hotel where I was told the meeting would occur, but rather we were headed in a direction in the complete opposite direction. I lowered the window and questioned my driver where we were headed, and he simply answered that there had been a change of plans and that he was to take me to another location.

Now, if you knew me, you would know that I don’t like surprises. I like to be in control of every aspect of my life, yet I now suddenly had lost that advantage. I tried once more to ask my driver, this time a little more forcefully where we were headed, but he now had placed me on ignore and proceeded to steer the car along it’s journey out of the city. I immediately pulled out my cell phone and flipped it open to call my assistant and find out what the hell was going on, only to find that because I hadn’t placed it on the charger at home the previous day, the battery had died so I had no way of calling anyone. Now I was really annoyed, this wasn’t happening.

    1. Hello Tazzie… well that was completely AWESOME… you have such a fertile mind and soul to create such an amazingly sweet and laugh out loud chappy… hmmmmm… one offer… thats not fair… what is on the menu… come on you could do so much with this… you have five days of ‘free’ Bette and Tina to explore… get back here and start exploring… pfffftttt… I love this story as I love all of your writing… your sense of romance and the bindings that make love work inspire me completely… hmmmmmm… I might have some ‘Red Rage’ for you soonish… hmmmmmm… maybe I can blackmail you into continuing this story… hehe… mucho love and hugs my friend, JC (Latin Nephew to those Salsa Angels)

    2. TAZZZIIIE!!!! WOO HOO what a surprise to see you posted! I decided to post an ‘official’ comment to JC’s story when I noticed this. Thanks so much for such a cute one. I wish you could add a few more chappies, but I completely understand how life and time can have a way of not allowing such things. Hope the lake was a bunch of fun. I’ll catch ya on the IM soon. xoxo

    3. Sweet little story Taz, if I didn’t know your time was limited I would encourage you to expand on this one. Looking forward to Ang and Lyns. Thank you, Md

    4. Hi, Tazzie! *waving with enthusiasm* This was just fantastic! Hmmm We have to agree with the rest of the people. You need to write what Tina planned to do during those 5 days, to surprise Bette. We thought your description of how the colours vary in October were amazing. We could visualize them. Also, it is true that when life and routine gets in the way, we forget to appreciate the beauty of Nature. Thanks for reminding us to take the time to acknowledge this special time of the year. PPS Hugs & kisses on both your cheeks. Lucero & Marsha (Latin JC’s Salsa Aunties)
