A Life I Never Meant Chapter One

Every Wednesday night for the last, I don’t know, four years I’ve sat at this bar. A vodka martini in front of me and the last of the gang on my right hand side. We always sit so that we can watch the door, open and close, looking up every time that it does so that we can look at the women entering the bar.

Right now Shane is across the bar gently pursuing a blonde, talking and laughing, turning on the charm, tonight though I know she’ll be back at my side very soon because tonight is different. It’s five years today since we buried Dana. We all thought that she was winning her battle and then, the struggle over took her, and she had nothing left to give. So Shane and I agreed, no going home with random strangers tonight, just let it be the two of us.

I look up as I see the door of the bar open again, in walks a woman who I know, intimately. She gives me a small wave, which I return, and sets me wondering if I should break my pact with Shane. A warm body in my bed tonight might just be what I need and as I see her walking towards me I feel my resolve weakening.

    "Hey Bette, what’s going on?"

"It’s just the Wednesday night ritual." I say in reply.

"Where is your partner in crime?"

    "Over there, talking."

As I point towards where Shane is standing, Rachael looks over her shoulder and smiles. She thinks she know what Shane is trying to do, get this woman in her bed, however, for once I know differently.

"It’s not what you think." I say, as Rachael returns her attention to me.

"With Shane, it’s always what you think. We both know too many woman that have had the Shane McCutcheon experience for it not to be what I think it is."

    "No, really tonight it’s different."

"What was it that Lacey said?"

"Finds them, feels them, fucks them, and leaves them, I believe was the phrase that she used."

"I can’t believe that you remember that, word for word." says Rachael.

"West Hollywood isn’t that big of a place for that not to have gone down in the annals."

    1. woah sadness, I was kinding hoping Tina would walk through the door, and there was me thinking this was a tibette beginning lol!, may I ask if there is a chance for a tibette (future) in ur story … I don’t even know this ally chick, and already I dont like her lol .. Im so bad, actually no Im such a tibetter lol

    2. Sadly realistic; yet I delight in the fact that it didn’t start off as a TiBette story and I hope it never does. I’m sure by now, many of you know that I am not missing B&T together.

    3. beautifully written.. so what’s next? maybe tina and alice sharing their thoughts about the last 5 years over in new york? maybe someone’s gonna decide it’s time to take a lil’ trip? who knows? but hey keep writing and you know we’ll keep reading!!.x.x.

    4. So sad….so fucking sad!!! Make Bette and Shane move to NY, they need a fresh start some where else and I’m sure Tina needs Bette. Can you tell a little about the plot for this story??

    5. That was sad,two beautiful women,in a lonely world, that they them self made. Missing friends that are long gone and griving for one that will never return. thanks
