    Chapter 9

     

     

    Later Bettes apartment:

    Bette is putting on the coffee and she takes out a little cake she bought to have with the coffee. She takes a seat at the kitchen table and put her leg up on the chair next to her. Its hurting a little, somehow having it up, calmed the pain down. Right then the doorbell rings. She knew it was so she shouted.

    Its open, come in. and Tina opens the door.

    Im in the kitchen, straight ahead. Bette calls out. Tina makes her way in and takes a seat next to Bette.

    Oh, your leg hurts? Tina says in a caring voice.
    Yeah, I just have to sit with it like this for a few minutes, then it will be okay for a while. Bette replies and smiles.

    Why dont we sit in the sofa instead? Its a little more comfortable for you. Tina suggests.

    Yeah, sounds better. Bette says and stands up and walks over to the sofa and sits down.

    Oh, I forgot the coffee. Bette says and starts to get up, but Tina stops her.

    Ill get it, just sit down and rest your leg. Tina says and smiles. She walks back to the kitchen.

    I bought a cake too, its on the counter. Bette says.

    Okay, Ill bring it. Tina says and walks back out to the sofa, she places the coffee and the cake on the table. Oh, cups, where do you have them? Tina asks and walks back.

    Its in the cupboard above the stove. Bette replies. A second later Tinas back and she takes a seat next to Bette on the sofa.

    So how was your day today? Tina asks and smiles.

    Interesting. Bette replies and smiles a little.

    Oh, how? Tina asks as she takes a sip of her coffee.

    Well, I told mom today. Bette says and looks down hen up at Tina.

    You did? Tina asks curiously.

    Yes, she told me that she didnt understand, but she wouldnt push me away because of who I choose to be with. Bette says and looks into Tinas eyes.

    I wish that my parents would think like that too. Tina says and looks down on the floor.

    Im sorry. Bette says softly.

    14. Good chapter, hey Lauren, you really have it going on — 2 great story lines going at the same time. You go girl. I don’t totally agree with everyone else, I agree that it is a good role reversal, but it is not a total role reversal becuse Tina still has the long history with parental and family rejection (Something that I think that Bette and her family will help her with.). Slowly, but surly we go, keep up the good work.
