    A crush, a meeting then love?? – Chapter 50

    Chapter 50

Tina noticed that Jack looked away.

“Shall we go?” Tina says as she looks at Bette.

“Sure, if you’re ready?” She replies.

“Yes, I am.” Tina says. Okay, we’ll see you both in a couple of minutes.” She says and smiles at her father and Sarah.

Tina and Bette get into their rental car and starts driving towards Jack’s house, where the wake is going to be.

Bette is driving, she put her right hand on top of Tina’s and squeezes it softly.

Tina turn her attention to Bette.

“Baby, I’m so proud of you.” Bette says. “You are an amazing person.” She adds

Tina smiles with tears coming down her chin.

“Oh please don’t cry.” Bette says, still holding onto Tina’s hand.

“Sorry, I can’t help it.” Tina replies, wiping away the tears with her free hand.

    Later at the wake:

Tina is sitting in the sofa with Bette holding hands. Sarah and Lauren is also seated. They are remembering Kathleen. Sarah and Lauren is telling stories from the last 6 years. Tina is loving this, but she cries openly.

Her aunt Elizabeth has been watching Tina all day. ‘My God, she is so alike Kathy.’ She thinks to herself.

It’s starting to get late, Tina is looking down on her watch. She leans over to Bette.

“Babe, it’s getting late. I want to leave.” Tina whispers to Bette.

“Are you okay?” Bette asks back.

“Yeah, I’m fine, just tired.” Tina replies with a slight smile.

    “Okay, let’s go.” Bette says.

Tina stands up and so does Bette. Tina walks over to Sarah.

    “Hey, we’re leaving.” Tina says.

    “So soon?” Sarah replies.

    “Yeah, I’m tired.” Tina says.

“Okay, when will we see you again?” Sarah asks.

“I don’t know, I think we’ll stay a few days. I’m going to come back here tomorrow and talk some more with dad.” Tina says.

“You want me to be here? I would.” Sarah says.

“No, that won’t be necessary. But thanks.” Tina replies.

They say their goodbyes and at last they stop by Jack. He’s talking with Elizabeth.

“Hey, we’re leaving now.” Tina says, looking at Jack.

    “Oh, okay.” He replies.

Elizabeth is watching Tina closely. She looks a little sad. Tina notices it, but she doesn’t say anything.

“I’ll come by tomorrow for a visit, before we leave.” Tina says.

    Jack hesitates a little.

“Could we talk then?” He asks.

“Yeah, I would like that.” Tina replies, giving him a little smile.
Tina gives him a light hug, before she takes Bette’s hand and walk outside to the car.

They get in. Tina is silent and looks up at the house with a sad look.

“Baby, are you okay?” Bette asks softly, touching Tina’s shoulder. Tina smiles vaguely.

“Yeah, I’m fine It’s just been an emotional week, that’s all. I’ll be fine.” Tina replies.

Bette smiles back at her. She starts the car and drive off towards Raleigh and their apartment.

“Could we go home tomorrow afternoon? After I talk with dad?” Tina asks.

“Off course we can, I’ll call the airline, when we get to the apartment.” Bette replies.

    The apartment:

Tina walks straight into the bedroom, while Bette goes into the kitchen, to call the airline.

When Tina got inside the bedroom, she broke down crying, she falls to her knees.

Bette just got off the phone, when she hears crying. She rushes into the bedroom, where she finds Tina in a ball on the floor crying. She gets down beside her and pulls her into her lap and a tight embrace.

“Baby? Shh Shh it’s okay.” Bette whispers, trying her best to comfort Tina.

Tina cries for a long time. All that’s happened this week, just hit her, and hit her hard. She has been strong, not cried so much. But she’s now, letting everything go. She wants to cry, she wants to be empty. And she’s lucky to have Bette there.

She grabs Bette’s arms tightly, crying into Bette’s neck.

Bette gently strokes Tina’s hair and back. Just holding her.

“I love you, you just fall apart, I’m here to hold you.” Bette whispers softly.

    1. ALL MY CONGRATULATIONS FOR YOUR 50th CHAPTER, LAUREN, MANY THANKS & BRAVO !!
      *** Gratulerer !! *** (… see, I remember !)

I’m so sorry for having been absent last time, but I was pretty ill – and at the same time, like Tina, emotionally exhausted…

About Jack Kennard, I’m taken between two opposite feelings : I’m happy to see things will perhaps be better with Tina, but at the same time I think it’s really sad that so many people have to wait a tragic event to realize what true priorities are… Currently, I cannot help but thinking that the main part of Jack’s attempt of change and acceptance is dictated by his fear of loneliness and, well, that’s of course much more selfish than a proof of remorse and understanding…
And Tina is really lucky to get Bette to support her through such a test. A delicate but strong support.

Wonderful work as usually, Lauren ! I will also be pretty selfish hoping these 50 chapters are just the first ones of a looong story !
      Thank you ! ^_^

    2. Whatever life throws at them, I’m just glad that they have each other for support. I feel for Tina, but it’s good to know that she has reconnected with her mom, before her passing, and now with her dad. Hope they can find comfort in each other. Great post Lauren.

    3. I am glad to see Tina have a real good cleansing cry. It is not good to hold all of that anguish in. She is lucky to have someone like Bette there to help her through it. I hope her and her father leave things on a positive note.

    4. wow very sad i remember epi “luck next time” when Bette was conforting Tina cuz the lose of their baby..very sad..hope papa Kennard dont make Tina cry more and ask her for forgiveness and after that B&T need a vacation to heal they got through so much..amazing chapter Lauren can i wait for another great chapter today?..lol..

    7. Very sad and beautiful at the same time…Glad Tina has Bette to lean on. It is actually important to get it out of your system and crying is a good way.
