Chapter 149 A week later: Tina and Bette were on their way to their first appointment to see Paul Mackenzie. He’s a therapist which Alice had recommend, he was on LA’s top 20 list. Bette had asked Tina to join her the first time. And she off course said yes. Shane was babysitting. “Are you nervous?” Tina asks. “Yeah, a little, but I’ll be fine.” Bette replies with a slight smile. “I know.” Tina says. They reach the office building and finds a parking space and then walk inside and takes the elevator up to the 3rd floor. Tina takes Bette’s hand as she sees Bette starting to shake a little. They walk up to the reception. “Hi, how may I help you?” The lady asks. “Bette Porter here for Paul Mackenzie.” Bette says and smiles. “Yes, you can just take a seat here, he’ll come and get you when he’s ready.” The lady replies. “Okay, thank you.” Bette says. They walk over to a small sofa and takes a seat. 5 minutes later he comes out. “Bette Porter?” He says and looks around the room and then at Bette. Bette stands up and Tina follows. He walks over and reach out his hand. “Mrs. Porter, it’s nice to meet you.” He says. “It’s nice to meet you too Dr. Mackenzie.” Bette replies and shakes his hand. “Oh, please call me Paul.” He says and smiles. “Paul. I want you to meet my wife Tina Kennard Porter.” Bette says introducing Tina. “Hello, Mrs Porter, nice to meet you too.” He says and holds out his hand. “Nice to meet you too.” Tina says and smiles too. “So, shall we start. You’re coming in alone?” He asks. “No, I was thinking bringing Tina in on the first session.” Bette says. “I would strongly suggest, you coming in alone the first time. Then on the next one maybe bring her in.” Paul says. Bette looks at Tina. “Babe, you go in, I’ll wait out here.” Tina says. “Are you sure?” Bette asks. “Yes, I’m sure.” Tina replies and smiles. “Okay, I’ll be 45 minutes.” Bette says and leans in for a soft kiss. Lauren…that was so sweet. Bette does need to discuss it with someone outside of their group of friends. Someone who will be objective. I’m glad Bette is still talking about it with Tina. She’ll still need the support of Tina to overcome her fears. Thanks for the update. Hope classes are going well.

I echo what others have said about therapy. Not many people know it, but I visit a therapist as well. Sometimes it’s best to speak to an unbiased party (and believe me, a therapist is just that as they’ve heard nearly EVERYTHING!). I already like Paul. He seems like he’s easy to talk to and can help Bette feel better about her life and family.
Sometimes your friends,doesn’t need to know everything that goes on in your world. Your spouse should know. An outsider is the best and they will listen and then give you the best advice.Bette needs to talk to Tina and keep her in the loop. thanks
