Your Winter – (Chapter: Three: Reasons to Fall)

She didn’t see Spencer at lunch either. Madison was absent as well. The sane side of Ashley was telling her that they probably just had different lunch periods. There were three lunches, so it was possible. Rational, even. It made sense. Of course, the side whispering that to her was completely drowned out by the other 99.5% of her. She could just see them together. In Madison’s car, because Spence couldn’t drive. Or could she now? Ugh. Madison was probably all over her, pulling at Spencer’s full lips with her teeth… running her hands over smooth skin… eliciting those tiny moans that had once only called out Ash’s name.

She was seething. Madison had to die. It was really that simple. Maybe she could hit her with her car and make it seem like an accident. She had coupons for a free car wash. It could work.

"I take it you’ve seen Spencer," a voice said, forcing Ashley’s had to snap back in a total exocist move. The sun glared down at her, and she had to block it out with her hand to let her sister’s face come into view. Was it sad that she couldn’t recognize Kyla’s voice? Her own sister. But, she’d known Spencer’s, even when it was coming from a stranger.

"What are you talking about?" she asked, the annoyance registering in her voice. She watched as Kyla sat down next to her on the bench, setting down her paper bag lunch. She didn’t know what was going on in her sister’s head, especially since she’d just walked up and randomly spouted off Spencer’s name.

Kyla gave her sister a knowing look, before moving her eyes back to her brown bag and unrolling the opening. "I meant that you look like hell. Not, bad… but miserable," she said, pulling out a tupperware container full of apple slices. "Which would make anyone with a brain conclude that you’ve finally seen Spencer." She said it so easily, as if the whole world was tuned in and had concluded the same thing. She pulled off the top of the tupperware container, setting the apples between them before pulling a slice out. "It’s weird, isn’t it? She’s like… a whole different person." She bit into the apple, her teeth tearing at the green skin.

    1. Wow…what a great story! I’m glad that Spencer and Ashley are paired up, perhaps they can work on their relationship and fall back in love again…I love your writing. PMS
