“Well look at the bright side you only have one more year after this and that is the last one you get before dinner” he said pointing at the half eaten cookie hanging out of my mouth. I basically swallow the rest of the cookie and give a guilty smile, while nodding my head in agreement.

“So how are things between you and Aiden going”

“Fine I guess” I said walking around the other side of the counter taking a seat on one of the stools.

“Guess huh, is there something going on?”  My dad questioned while still mixing the batter.

“No it’s nothing…. just that I don’t think we really have that much in common”

“I see, are you sure there’s not someone else” He gave me a pointed look

“Maybe but I don’t see it happening anyways” I reply shyly

“Don’t sell yourself short honey, do you think he might like you back” he questioned turning around to place the pan into the oven.  He is kind of a she and I’m not sure how my dad would take that, but he has always seem to be very opened minded but I think I should wait until I’m sure about my feelings for Ashley.

“I think sh… he does it’s just that there’s some weird stuff going on around him and the circumstances’ are just all wrong”

“Hmm well I know that you being in a relationship with Aiden makes you feel wrong about caring for someone else. But if you don’t truly believe that Aiden is right for you, then maybe you should end it. Don’t put yourself in a box Spence, just be sure of what you want and make sure that you end your relationship with Aiden first.” He stated as he finished wiping down the counter with a towel.

“Ya I think if anything a break might be a good idea” My dad came around to my side of the counter and took a seat on the stool beside me.

“You said there is some weird things going on like what?”

I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket so I reached down to get it. Peering at it I noticed I had a new text from Aiden.

“Umm well I don’t know sh.. he always has bruises on his body, but he has a story every time to explain them I just don’t know if I believe them or not.”  I look down reading Aiden’s text
