Within Temptation – (Chapter: 75: I solemnly swear that I am up to no good)

    Ashley’s pov

I was trying to take my mind off of the upcoming court date. It wasn’t set yet, but that didn’t stop me from worrying about it. I decided to throw a little party in our loft one weekend. I wanted a distraction. Spencer was good at keeping my mind busy, but a party would help a lot. I invited Kyla, Veronica, Aiden, Chelsea, and Clay. Even Glen was on the invite list, but I wasn’t expecting him. It was just a small get together between friends and I wasn’t sure where Glen and I stood on the friends list. As far as I know he hated me.

Spe: “So, who all agreed to show up?”
Ash: “Aiden, Clay, Chelsea, Kyla, and Veronica.”
Spe: “Add Clover to that list. I invited her this afternoon.”
Ash: “Then that makes a party of 8.”
Spe: “Sounds like it will be a blast.”
Ash: “This is an Ashley Davies party. It will definitely be fun.”

All the guests had finally shown up. Even some unexpected guest. Clover brought her older brother with her. I know my gaydar wasn’t always perfect, but there was no way this guy was straight. He looked too fancy. His blonde hair was parted on the side causing his bangs to do the emo kid thing. He was wearing some expensive looking tight, brightly colored clothes. Aiden had convinced Glen to come. He’s the last person I expected to see in my home. Spencer stood beside me and whispered.

Spe: “I didn’t expect him to come.”
    Ash: “Nor did I.”
Spe: “Last I checked he and Aiden were weird around each other.”
Ash: “I never know what’s going on with people these days.”
Spe: “Sometimes it’s best if you don’t.”

I laughed as she walked over to Clover, so she wouldn’t be alone. Clover didn’t know anyone here other than her brother, who’s name I still didn‘t know. Clover had a bubbly personality, a lot like Kyla’s actually, so I figured she would make friends with everyone by the end of the night.

I was right. Not even an hour later she was making friends with Kyla and hitting on Glen. I don’t know if it was the booze that made her so flirty or if that’s how she always was, but I was glad everyone was having a good time. They were all caught up in some ridiculous card game called circle of death. Aiden seemed to be hitting it off with Dominic, Clovers brother. Big surprise there. Spencer and I were in the kitchen making more drinks when Clover walked over to us.
