Transformations – (Chapter: Chapter 1)
Knock knock. “Spencey, sweetie you’re going to be late.”
The blond was sprawled out on her bed with the thin sheet barely covering her or was until the full weight of her mother’s words hit her and she shot up out of bed. How could her alarm clock not go off? She has a presentation she could not afford to miss.
In an instant the girl was up out of bed and jumping into a pair of jeans she hoped were clean. Luckily she stopped and took the time to smell if the blue tank top she picked was clean. When she determined that it was she put it on and then quickly ran her fingers through her locks before grabbing her converse and running downstairs.
“Good morning Spencer, breakfast?”
Spencer looked up into mirrored blue eyes as she hastily tied her shoes. “Uh-huh. No time.” She gave her mom a quick smile and then grabbed her school back and took off through the door at a sprint.
****
“Okay, Ms. Carlin your turn.”
The extremely nervous looking blond shifted her weight as she glanced out at her classmates from the front of the room. Mingled in with many faceless peers was Ashley Davies. The one girl that stood as everyone’s, girl or guy, wet dream as well as the point of Spencer’s pining.
“Uhm, for my family genealogy report I shoes my great great grandfather Captain Archie Carlin.” She looked around the room at all the bored faces staring back at her, except for two. Ashley had a small smile pulling at her lips while Aiden, her boyfriend, wore a smirk.
Ew.
“In 1897 he became one of the first to explore the Artic Shelf.” She opened up a yellowing map to show the class. “I also brought a few other items used by seamen.” Assorted giggles emanated around the room as Spencer emptied her back pack on the table in front of her.
“Right her is a quadrant and sextant.” She held up two more objects the class wasn’t remotely interested in. “Everything is for sale by the way.” Next she held up an old pair of glasses with cracked lenses. “I haven’t quite got his glasses appraised but they have seen a whole lot.”
