The Perfect Girl – (Chapter: A Series of Fortunate Events Pt. 1)
Ashley was sitting at the bar grinning at some other girl when Spencer finally spotted her at Gray. Spencer took a deep breath as she approached the brunette beauty. Ashley whirled around to give her a wide eyed stare. “Um, Hi Ash.” Spencer breathed nervously. “Are you following me or something? You’re everywhere I go today.” Ashley said, grinning ear to ear good-naturedly. This caused girl sitting next to her to scowl in displeasure. “Who’s she?” the girl growled. “She’s just someone from my school.” Ashley shrugged. “Sure. She’s probably another one of your little one night stands.” The girl snapped angrily, grabbing her purse and going out the door. Spencer stared after her. She nearly jumped out of her skin when Ashley’s hand touched her arm gently. “Sorry about that. Girls are so complicated.” She sighed, taking another sip of her beer. “But boys are too…stupid. Aiden sucks in bed; if it wasn’t for that I’d probably have him a- rrrouunnddd right noowww.” She said, slurring her words. “So why are you here, Spence?” Spencer smiled slightly at how Ashley had called her Spence instead of Spencer. “I was going to interview you for our student body newspaper, but…” “But what? Sit dowwnnn…” Ashley groaned, slumping over. “I’ll tell you right now Spp-Sppencee.. I’m the best damn softball player this school has ever seen…” she said, downing another beer. “Um, Ash…I don’t think you should have anymore.” Spencer said, putting her hand on Ashley’s arm as she reached for another one. “Aw, how cute. D-don’t worry, Spencceerrr…have one yoursellff…” she said, grinning like an idiot. “Ash, we’re underage! I don’t think-” Spencer began. Ashley’s eyes were glazed over and unfocused. “You need to loooseenn uppp…jeez, women!” Ashley yelled aloud. “Ok, Ash…we should probably go now.” Spencer said, noting how people were beginning to stare now. Obviously Ashley was in no position to get herself home all by herself. “I’ll give you a ride home. Let’s go.” She said, tugging gently on Ashley’s hand. Ashley made an attempt to get onto her feet before collapsing on top of Spencer. I know I wanted her on top of me, but not this way!
“Glen? Can you give me and my friend a ride home? Don’t bitch at me; she’s drunk!” Spencer sighed in disgust as she closed her phone. Glen pulled up about half an hour later with his mouth gaping wide open. “IS THAT ASHLEY DAVIES?!” he yipped excitedly. “She’s SO HOT!” “Glen, stop being an ass and help me get her in the car!” Spencer cried, teetering over under the weight of the fit softball player. “Where’s she live?” Glen asked, raising an eyebrow at Spencer once they put Ashley in the back. “Um…good question…where does she live?” Spencer pondered out loud. “Let’s just take her home!” Glen panted excitedly. “Ugh. Not like she’s going to sleep with you just because she’s passed out on our couch, Glen.” Spencer said, rolling her eyes. Glen gave Spencer a suggestive smirk, causing her to simply punch him in the arm and yell at him to start the car already.
“YOU BROUGHT A RANDOM DRUNK GIRL HOME?!” Paula yelled when Glen carried the unconscious Ashley to their front door. “Um… she’s the girl I was suppose to interview..” Spencer said nervously, fiddling with her hands. “She’s hot, Mom!” Glen said gleefully. Paula narrowed her eyes in displeasure. “Fine, she can stay for the night since it doesn’t look like she’s in any state to cause any more trouble. Did you try to find out where she lives?” “Her phone’s out of battery and we don’t have a charger for it…” Spencer said. Paula rolled her eyes and sighed. “Why couldn’t someone else take her home?! Why does this kind of thing always happen to me?!” “Yay! We can keep her!” Glen cheered, running into the living room and pivoting around in a circle with Ashley still in his arms. “Don’t get any ideas, Glen. She’s going to sleep in Spencer’s room so Spencer can make sure she doesn’t barf or choke on it and die. How did she get so intoxicated anyhow?” Spencer’s heart raced; Ashley Davies was going to be sleeping in her room! “Hello? Spencer?” Paula’s sharp voice pierced her thoughts. “Huh?” “How did this girl get so drunk in the first place?” “I don’t know… she was already like that when I got there.” Spencer shrugged. Paula frowned. “Kids…” “No fair! Why does she have to sleep in Spencer’s room?! I can take care of her just fine!” Glen protested indignantly. “Don’t even think about it, Glen…” Paula sighed in exasperation as she ascended the stairs. “But wait! I’m responsible too! Really Mom…” Glen followed her up the stairs, leaving Spencer to sit down on the couch next to Ashley’s limp form. Spencer stroked Ashley’s curls gently, smiling down at her. Ashley Davies was in her house, and she was going to be sleeping right next to her in her own bed.
