Ashley found out that Spencer had grown up outside of Sandusky Ohio. Her mom and dad still live there, and she has two brothers Glen, who is currently in the Air Force, and Clay who is studying at Harvard Law. Spencer had chosen to go Penn State after high school, she wanted to be far enough away form home, that she could grow and be herself. Ashley was mesmerized watching Spencer’s eyes and facial expressions as she spoke, trying to take in everything she said. Spencer told her that she had played field hockey at Penn State for four years, and her team won two national titles. College was also where Spencer met her first girlfriend Jess. The two split their senior year mostly due to the pressures of school, and their almost certain separation after college, Spencer had been willing to try and make it work, but Jess said it would be too hard and they went their separate ways. As Spencer was telling her this Ashley realized that Spencer was really one of the most genuinely nice people she had ever encountered. After college, Spencer was offered a teaching a job in up state New York, and well here she is two years later.

Ashley also shared her story with Spencer, leaving some of the details out, not sure if Spencer should hear everything all at once. She had grown up in LA with her mother and father. Her father wasn’t really around much because he was a famous rock star always touring with his band. She had a great relationship with her mother though and a fairly good life as a child. When she was a sophomore her father passed away, she managed to get through it with the help of her mom. Three years later, a month after Ashley’s graduation her mother also passed away due to breast cancer. Spencer’s eyes welled as Ashley was telling this, feeling awful for what Ashley had gone through. Ashley placed her hand atop Spencer’s and assured her that she was ok. After that Ashley didn’t know what she wanted from her life and it toke her quite some time to figure herself out. Five years after her mother’s death she and her best friend, Ben, decided they both needed a change and they packed up and moved to New York together. They started a band called Lost In Place, of which Ashley was the lead singer. She could also play both the guitar, drums and a few other instruments, music was her passion. Ashley left out a considerable amount of what happened with in those five years, but thought she had given Spencer enough information for one night.
